This song is really fun to do fast. We slowed it down for 'it was a sight beyond compare, I ought to know fer I was there.'. *laughs* It's so nice to see other versions of this play on the net! It really looked like everyone was having fun in this version. :)
We're doing Brigadoon right now and I'm playing the part of Meg, man those names are not easy and I have to go faster than she does in the movie...Ugh...Not easy, but loads of fun :D
We called it the Song That Never Ends. So many names, so many verses, so little time to breathe! But still, I think it's one of the best songs in the show :0)
I played this summer too. It's such fun. And yeah the names are tough! My director decided it would be good idea to pick up the tempo of the song too. It was crazy! haha
@jwwdotcom but the best line in that song-- "It was a sight beyond compare, I ought to know for I was there!" oh Meg.. :) Yes, I've often thought so. It may be why I haven't seen it performed all that often in performance. I'm hoping to get a recording with this song on it. ;)
A lively and wonderful performance of a terrific song. I love community theater...and it's obvious that this cast loved what they were doing. Well done!
It's about two American men who go hunting in Scotland and get lost. In the morning, a village appears through the mist - one that hadn't been there before.
They go there, and basically the one guy falls in love. Later they learn that the town only appears once every 100 years - the people sleep for 100 years and return the next day. This is confusing; I would suggest watching a movie.

geez...I played Meg. Fun role, but I struggled a bit with all those names! MacGregor, MacKenna, MacGowan, MacGraw...etc. :P
but the best line in that song-- "It was a sight beyond compare, I ought to know for I was there!" oh Meg.. :)

Yeah, the director in the version I did was like "MacGregor, MacKenna, MacGowan, MacGraw, McVittie, MacNeil, and MacRai...Good luck."
And then (she's originally from Aberdeen), "Hey, McVitties are biscuits!"

IF anyone leaves, the town disappears.
Will true love conquer all?
