This is extremely close to something I've been looking to create for an electronics project. I simply need a bluetooth device that can read an IR signal, then send that signal via bluetooth to my Mac. This is awesome. Thanks for showing this.
the old virsions have an ir port but the new ones dont.
they took it out because the never actually used it, howerver third party programs can send data to that port. like channel changer programs and so on.
but would it be possible to reprogram the software to send its data to the usb port instead of the ir port and connect one of those things you built with a usb cable?
that way i could use those channel changer programs?
i meant program the the software that the psp uses.
the old psps have an ir port, the new psps dont
third party software can use the psp's built in ir port, but if you put that software on a new psp it does nothing, because the new psp doesnt have an ir port.
i want to reprogram the third party software, so that the signals go to an Axon plugged into a psp.
lol no, im not going to program the Axon or the psp.
ill try to make this as simple as i can since i always overcomplicate things.
i want the psp to take control over the Axon through usb.
the goal of this is to press buttons on the psp, then to transmit things through the Axon.
you see, i have a program installed on my psp, that acts as a channel changer. when i press X the tv turns on, or i can press left and right to change channels.
Well, channel changer programs transmit a large complex code. You will need to write an Axon program that can distinguish between each code. I recommend posting on my site forum for more help on this. This is definitely doable, even with USB. Actually, if you search my site, you'll find code and instructions on how to hook up a psp controller straight to the Axon.
sick! where can i buy the parts needed to build this?

How do you connect to bluetooth with hyper terminal? I thought hyper terminal only worked with simple comms like rs-232. Cool project btw. Cheers.

Bluetooth works on a virtual com port - hyperterminal doesn't know the difference.

Interesting. Thanks for the follow up.
Cheers.

are you familiar with the psp?

Are you asking if you can program my Axon to send data out the built in USB port?

Wait, you mean use a psp to program an Axon? Or an Axon to program a psp?

the only problem is the new psp doesnt have an ir port, so i want to use the Axon as the ir port.
if i was going to program anything, it would be the channel changer program.
two comments because youtubes character limit is too short.

hmmmm 90% of it self taught, 10% from college . . . took me forever (weeks) to get the darn infrared transmitters to work . . . learn by doing =P
