@ samueljaros The Cure was really The Cure without Simon. Just look at this performance for instance. Total brilliance. It didn't need Simon. My most favourite Cure songs are all from Japanese Whispers & The Top [Lament, Dressing Up, The Upstairs Room, Piggy In The Mirror] (without Simon), with the exception of Charlotte Sometimes (with). Ironically Simon is my favourite bass player though (-the way he moves onstage!). His look is just as much The Cure as Robert.
In this live performance Robert the god radiates the total revolt of the world and nature. Totally hypnotic, beautiful, and sad. Especially that balloon floating around.. like the plastic bag in American Beauty. What fools will never relate to. I wish I had have been there. Ultimate performance.
Top quality footage. I hadn't realised that they'd ever done that song during the 1984 tour. Andy Anderson proved what a great drummer he is during his too brief contribution. But was The Cure really The Cure without Simon? Discuss...
I NEED TO COMMENT FIRST OFF THE PORNOGRAPHY ALBUM IS WAY BETTER THAN DISINTEGRATION OK IT WENT DOVE DEEP AND BROUGHT OUT THE DARK GLOOMY SIDE OF THE CURE That makes the cure the cure Disintegration just made their songs real long and momre about sad stuff laurence already lef the band it wasnt TRUE Cure Band anymore i mean whatever he had dif people making the music then unlike 1982
im a fan of blink 182 and started listening to the cure because tom says they were an influence. at first i was like wtf but now thta i think about it tom does sing like robert smith live with a kinda slurred speech and his newer stuff uses alot of effects
i personally like their darker albums like pornography, disintagration, blood flowers, boys dont cry, etc. better than their pop stuff. they should stay as a alternative rock band
i think disintegration had some songs taht were better than the songs on pornagraphy but pornagrophy had all good songs. then theres their pop album wish which is ok i guess. i dont reall ylike any of their 90s or 2000s stuff cept blood flowers
If you listen to a sad song when you are sad it makes you feel better, especially when its written and sung by the cure.....

Actually, I wouldn't be suprised if Robert grew his hair longer subliminally because he was missing his pal Simon!

The entire "Pornography" album was The Cure at its finest. Of course, with a name like
"pornography" it had better be good.

excellent song. pornography was brilliant in its conception. lyrically is quite sound. one of the most gloomy songs in the history of the cure.
