it could be several reasons. 1. being that u have a stable connection. 2. being that u have gold membership. just make sure those are squared away first,if it still doesnt work call ms.

umm, first of all its that and the not dat and da. second, if you save the disk to your hard drive with the new dash, yes, you have to have the disk in, but the lens reads it while its motionless...

I like the new chatroom feature, I hated talking to one person at a time on one channel. Like this I can talk to all of them at once without any of them feeling left out or pissed because I dropped talking to him/her.

I know the avatars will catch on. Avatars have been around longer than people think. I think they are cool. Can't wait this fall.

Why? You can still use your pics. Everybody HAS to make an avatar as part of the setup, but you can choose to display a gamerpic on your card like normal, and can keep using that pic like you have been. The only time you HAVE to use an avatar is in some of the new games.

You can also use your themes...according to pictures, the themes actually look better on the new dashboard, since they replace all that empty space in the background...you get a clearer look at the theme pic.

For certain games that have frequent loading times (like Soulcalibur IV) HDD installation will be pretty cool. I don't think anybody is going to install every game they own, just the ones they play most frequently and want to speed up.

As long as you keep paying for Live, you can go on it.  If you choose not to pay, you'll be dropped to a silver membership, as usual, which basically just means you can't play games online (there's a fewe other things, but they are barely worth mentioning).

And to Pokemon freak, yes you can still go on Live, the demo kiosk they are using is just not hooked up to the internet. Live is still a big part of the new Xbox setup. This update will not be installed until you connect to Live, obviously.

the day when it is released you will get an update, so basically its just a case of turning on your xbox (and also signing into xbox live) then a normal update blade will come up telling you that you need an update. Then it's just a case of waiting for it to download, and then your xbox will restart and you will get this update

No, you can't, unless you plan never to connect to Live again. There is a menu similar to the old blades that comes up when you use the guide button (even in a game) but it is not quite the same. This update is MANDATORY to use the Live service. Why is that so hard fo folks to understand?
