Why do you use Ic chips if the resistors already make the lights have to wait till the music is high enough.

also. is this going off of a microphone? because i dont see any cables connecting it to a possible sound output.

how you have placed the leds? 1-16 beginning from left I assume? Based on shematics it is critical? to place leds to correctt position.

your schematics is missing two electrolyt condensator as listed, where are them placed? One is obviously in opamp circuit diagram.

Technically that's a peak meter, not VU meter. VUs are mechanical and have very specific ballistics and electronic requirements to qualify as VUs. It's a very cool demo though, so thanks for sharing!

The schematics and code are on the website listed to the right of the video. An electronics hobbyist or enthusiastic electrical engineering student should be able to build one for you.

How hard would it be to convert that into a spectrum analyzer??

The gap between this and a spectrum analyzer is, from my experience, not a large leap but a lot more work. If you understand the theory behind this, then you should be able to handle signal processing theory without going nuts.

The second version of this actually splits the incoming signal into three bands if you want something on the more immediate side.
