  • haha, great job!!

  • hate the updater too

  • im with this guy....

  • this is weird!

  • I never update anything, but Adobe / Creative / Apple / Java have a serious problem: Even if I told it during setup that I don't want it searching for updates, it'll insist on searching. How many updates suddenly introduce a new bug? I don't like change, I don't like when something new changes my program's functionality. Let my system stay static, and don't bog it down with useless updates, and if I tell it to cancel the update, I don't mean "try again in twenty minutes"

  • genuis...

    I hate updater

  • Haha, word!

Look at plumbers- they never need to update their wrenches, do they? WrenCH4.0!

  • Dude that microphone is so punk rock

  • Haha, 100% AGREED.

I'm left having to download pirated version of Photoshop to help with my University course.

I would buy it but... apparently the cheaper student package Adobe offers is ONLY £400! Any student can afford that! As if getting in to Student Debt wasn't enough!

    THANKS ADOBE.

  • Are you saying that a high price warrants piracy? So, if the milk costs too much you rip it off?

In this video, I'm more complaining about an (arguably) non-usable Piece Of Software (POS) that's included, apparently, to torment paying customers.

  • If the milk costs £400 a bottle I would...

I'm against piracy, but the price of software should stay reasonable. Especially if it's used for educational purposes as in lightning89's case.

  • just don't buy the software if you don't think it's worth it.

  • you have to admit though, that milk analogy was a bad idea. I can imagine someone being killed for a bottle of milk in a desert, for example, but there can possibly be no reason to kill over photoshop :)

  • @phillipk :)

    > if the milk costs too much you rip it off?

sure I would. that, or starvation.

  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater5

Delete this folder, and no more Adobe Updater. Of course, you wont get any updates (on the offchance they release a useful one), but the updater can be restored using the original installer (it allows you to 'reinstall' a product, which of course reinstalls the updater along with it).

  • we're listening...I wish I had an answer on when we'd have a big improvement...but at least we're aware.

  • Its kinda funny - having done support for these products. Customers complained when we hardly released any patches for anything, and they complain when we release too many patches for this stuff.

  • it's not so much the frequency--but in this case, that the updater itself fails. But I get what you're saying--either way they complain.

  • Well there you go - you found no middle ground. Adobe updater is the most annoying piece of useless software I have ever encountered, I have switched to Foxit. CTFO most people only want to read simple pdfs. If anything else is required either they should be able to choose on install, or the program prompts an update WHEN NEEDED i.e. when the user does something that requires the update. It is that simple. e.g. "Sorry to read this correctly [etc.], we need to do a quick update"+no bloody reboot!

  • You should totally call them up and demand a refund right away. Adobe obviously doesn't deserve your business.

  • You can go to Preferences and turn Updater off, or unselect individual products you don't care about.

  • Hey, I never said this was 100% true. Seriously, though, Adobe Updater is bad news. When I set it to not update, it does not stop.

  • lulz I feel yr pain too. I have master collection on 3 machines. That's like infinity updates.

  • adobe updater is a crapy stuff :s

  • Sweet. I feel your pain man...

  • OMG... Too funny, Phillip!!

  • awesome

  • Adobe updater is a bag of poo

  • I Love my Adobe Updater ^^
