  • haha I agree. I hate seeing people "hang out" at the gym while I'm working my butt off!!! very encouraging...

  • lay off. this guy's just trying to help. I mean, I'm an art student and when I see someone drawing badly I have a little smirk inside. He's an expert so of course his knowledge will give him SOME feeling of superiority. not like he's going up to the women and laughing in their faces

  • If you stupid to comment about what yeri has stated they your stupid to make a comment. Sorry his right. I am serious on hitting my fit training. I dont want hear you cell converstation or watching your stupid tv show. i am here to get fit for my fit rest. Stop bitching! GET A LIFE

  • A lot of you folks commenting on this video are accurate. People have the ability and freedom of choice. And this man chose to rant about something that bothers him AND offer info for free. This world will only be a better if we all SHUT THE FUCK UP and stop passing judgement upon what we don't like and learn to respectfully agree to disagree. Treat others as you would enjoy being treated. STOP JUDGING!! Complain, Rant etc. But please...STOP JUDGING by saying this video is "douchey",

  • 4:28 Closed Captioning: "unit when he's probably rapture favored people magazine."

  • I used to be one of those 'casual' users of gyms. I didn't care about reaching my peak or doing hard workouts, I just wanted to stop from getting lazy and it broke my routines.

Some peopel go to the gym to get fit, some go there to maintain, some go because its better than nothing.

  • I so agree with you. I see women all the time reading a magazine while on a treadmill not busting a sweat at all. If you got time to read while working out you are not working hard enough.

  • I agree with Jacquiem99. This video is definitely pretentious and cocky. There are many people out there with Fibromyalgia and other symptoms and they cant have too much resistance or else they get tendonitis really quickly (10 percent of the population). I also go lower resistance elliptical after a high impact day or legs day where my days are burned out so I can get the endrophine release. That guy going R=4, I=10 on elliptical might be a trainer with 30 yrs of xp just on his off day!

  • so i have to stop watching ellen while i workout 0_0 noooooooooo!!! lol

  • Its called Football

  • People are allowed to exercise however they want, regardless of whether you think it's the "best" way or not. The attitude that you and other "serious" workout people have is what keeps people from going to gyms. People worry that someone was judging them at the gym, and now it's clear people are. Do you think this encourages people to get healthy? Videos like this aren't helpful, they're pretentious and douchey.

  • @jacquiemt99 On the flip side of that; I have heard lots of people very loudly telling all who will listen that they have been "going to gym" and "working out" and not getting any results. What they have actually been doing is what is described in the video but they have probably put off others from attempting to get into shape, as I have often found that people are very willing to believe the negative before the positive. Obviously I concede that any activity is better than none.

  • @jacquiemt99 agreed. guy is a douche. Also, it took him 9 minutes to share 2 tiny stories. GET TO THE POINT ALREADY!!! Learn how to tell stories!

  • I love your videos, and I agree that the cell phone guy is rude. However, as a medical professional, I do caution you to say that anyone attempting to basically get up and "move" as "getting in the way" of the "serious" exercise enthusiasts. Remember, everyone has a story and not all stories are the same as yours. Perhaps they reciently had a heart attack or knee surgery? We all "start" somewhere, and some medical situations require people to start slowly. The point.. they started.

  • This really does make sense when you explain it, and this should be common knowledge! Thank you for sharing and explaining everything also in other videos, because how should we know about all this, when this is not taught in schools or if your'e not studying about these things.. so lot of thanks here from Iceland:D

  • I agree with this video. Dont waste everyone's time by doing light workouts for an hour when someone who wants to get a good 30 min or so hard sweat going. One thing that always gave me a huge eye roll is when someone was going on warp speed with 0 resistance. Insane.

  • I cant stand it when all the machines are taken by people reading magazines. My gym has a 20minute rule during peak times. There are a bunch of women that cover the panel up with a towel or magazine and spend an hour doing nothing!

  • one of the best videos on exercising b/c so many people use the eliptical, including me. thanks yelkaim.

  • I really enjoy your videos. You seem to have a great outlook and I find you inspiring. Not so much this video though. I got to agree with the other comment about how judgmental it came off. I think perhaps it's easy for a guy who has been so fit for so long to forget that it really is a major accomplishment for some people to even get off the couch and out the door. It might be more interesting for you to look at exactly WHY you let yourself get so irritated and annoyed by other people's issues.

  • I was thinking the same as kat. I did a 2 hour long sessions at the gym with about 3 quaters being running, at medium/slow pace. I guess i was still sweating (quite a lot) but it is ok to not only do intervals (even though they are more fun). But if your wanting to improve your endurence you have to do longer periods of training which you couldnt do in the same way as intervals

  • I agree with you that most people are not making proper use of their time in the gym, but I don't understand why you would say they would be better off going home. Something is better than nothing! Also, when it comes to cardio some people have different goals. Yes high interval training is awesome, but moderate and low intensity cardio have their place in the gym too. I like your videos and I respect what you do, but I don't think you are being entirely fair on this one.

  • This guy is giving helpfull tips. He is telling people how to get the most of their exercise and what not to do!

  • You're definitely better pushing yourself as hard as you can for 30 minutes than going on an elliptical for an hour. Oh, and who can possibly read a magazine on an elliptical? All that bouncing up and down. Even if you're moving slowly, your eyes must feel like they're having a seizure. May as well just sit and read the magazine!

  • This guy is 100% right!!!

  • Funny, this is a very valid point you are making but, people who spend time watching this video are probably not the kind of people who do that craziness in the gym and if they are then they would have only watched the first 15 seconds of your video and then turned it off because they think surfing the net is a high cardio sport!

  • hi yuri could i know where u get your nutrition information from.my doctor thins that eating green vegi and fruits does not help an he doesnt recommend it so i would like to get my facts rite before my next chech in with him

  • I thought this guy was going to give some helpful tip. Instead he is just a judgmental jerk. Does he know the health issues of those around him? Isn't any moving better than not moving? If in his great wisdom he has decided that those other people at the gym are wasting their time, why does it matter to him? Are these people who are going at a more leisurely rate interfering with his ability to reach his goals? I doubt it.

  • @Sally88ish Good point. But most people that are not working hard when on a tredmill or elliptical, are just lazy. They are preventing people who are willing to work hard, from doing their training. And that is downright annoying. point being, if you are not going to work hard, or you can't because of some physical situation: go walk outside! No offence!

  • @Narrowescape If the 'lazy' people are using the only machines available and are doing a casual walk, then they are wasting other people's time - in which case this guy has a legitimte beef. And I do agree that walking outside would be preferable. I was just thinking about buying an elliptical and I thought this video would provide some useful information. It didn't.

  • @Sally88ish I guess you are one of those people who do nothing on the eliptical

  • @Sally88ish He is telling people how to get the most of their exercise based on observations he made. Like most trainers he is telling people what not to do and what the propper way to do things are thats all.

  • People have to be entertained costantly. they want the rewards without the work.

  • LOVE THIS!!! Haha I was cracking up because I see wayyy too many people on the elliptical doing. Nothing! Haha thanks yuri!
