....but when my own PERSONAL GOD's "DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS FACE" happens to be the MAIN "image" on this "Maxell tape commercial"... we'll it just HITS the fucking NAIL on the HEAD when it comes to ELEVATING the "cassette tape" to such MIND-BLOWING "heights"!!!....
Not B&O cassette deck, more a Nakamichi. @0:02 the writing "double capstan" is visible. Only one B&O deck had that and it was the top loaded Beocord 5000.
@aleramone23 Cassette always dies! I hated when the tape would get chewed up and all pulled out of the player and then you had to salvage it twisting it up with a pen or pencil and then the tape would snap or get ruined and warped anyway!
Heres a bit of trivia for you all! I used to live in Northampton where Bauhaus came from back in the early eighties. My best mates brother knew a girl who used to go out with Pete Murphy in those early days, and apparently he used to drive around everywhere in a Hearse as his chosen form of transport!
@sylvian66 Why the hell didn't David Sylvian say 'Yes'?! D'oh! :O I love him too. They should have asked the even hotter brother Steve Jansen hubba, hubba!
My God...Peter Murphy. I loved this ad. Thank you so much for posting this. He is just unbelievable live. And the fact that he is drop dead gorgeous and alluring does not hurt either. We Love Our Audience!
Yes, that is UK native Peter Murphy of Bauhaus. He must have made a zillion off that one. They liked his modern, high tech look if you will. The original "Blown Away Guy" was LA native Steve Steigman in the first Maxell commercial, not Peter.
Thanks for uploading such a high quality video of a classic TV commercial from the '80s. It's weird to see Peter Murphy in such a mainstream commercial, but he has the right look for this ad.
He CERTAINLY would've BROKEN the fucking "SOUND BARRIER" in there with all the fucking LOUD MOANING I'd have him go through while I'm EATING his MASSIVE MEAT like a fucking CANNIBAL!!!... And right after I've BLOWN him for hours he can go ahead and let me FUCK him into a COMA!!! Let's MAKE the WHOLE fucking building COLLAPSE!!!
@catsb9 stood in line at a job center like i did this gig was advertised in lots of job centers around the country as well as all the other methods. i got short listed to the last three.but this guy got the job becuase he had an agent who pused it for him. at the time i looked like gary numan thin very pale with black hair and black eye liner. it s the type of look they were after.
Actually, it's a Nakamichi 1000ZXL, legendary cassette deck - not B&O...

Maxell originally approached David Sylvian to do the advert but he declined so they then got Pete Murphy - brilliant iconic ad from the 80's
