  • Actually, it's a Nakamichi 1000ZXL, legendary cassette deck - not B&O...

  • Wow! Were 80's televisions WIDESCREEN?! I never had one!

    g

  • ....but when my own PERSONAL GOD's "DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS FACE" happens to be the MAIN "image" on this "Maxell tape commercial"... we'll it just HITS the fucking NAIL on the HEAD when it comes to ELEVATING the "cassette tape" to such MIND-BLOWING "heights"!!!....

  • haha it's cool when he's looking away and his eyes seems to be white. Love the guy. He's coming to belgium next month :D

  • this commercial contains everything i have ever wanted in life...mixed tape, coffee, robot, and peter murphy ;)

  • Not B&O cassette deck, more a Nakamichi. @0:02 the writing "double capstan" is visible. Only one B&O deck had that and it was the top loaded Beocord 5000.

  • I only recognise the music from Earthworm Jim :P

  • Casette never dies!!!!!

  • @aleramone23 Cassette always dies! I hated when the tape would get chewed up and all pulled out of the player and then you had to salvage it twisting it up with a pen or pencil and then the tape would snap or get ruined and warped anyway!

  • kinda legendary for me - never saw this before but heard about it a lot of times

  • As a child, this ad used to scare the shit out of me.

  • @WarwickshireTuber Why? Peter's hot in this.

  • really love the nakamichi 1000zxl. they should use the nakamichi 1000zxl limited version one though both are excellent decks to have.

  • He's got smoky eye makeup on in this.

  • Peter was the hot vampire that they should have used in Twilight.

  • Buen comercial del cassette maxell

  • Heres a bit of trivia for you all! I used to live in Northampton where Bauhaus came from back in the early eighties. My best mates brother knew a girl who used to go out with Pete Murphy in those early days, and apparently he used to drive around everywhere in a Hearse as his chosen form of transport!

  • @JonTcooker1 I want to be that girl! LOL

  • it's not Bang&Olufsen, dumbass. It's Nakamichi 1000ZXL.

  • Pete Murphy was the undisputed Goth King in the 80s.

  • Thanks, that bought back loadsa of memories form the days of cassettes! C30, C60, C90 GO!

  • Maxell originally approached David Sylvian to do the advert but he declined so they then got Pete Murphy - brilliant iconic ad from the 80's

  • @sylvian66 Why the hell didn't David Sylvian say 'Yes'?! D'oh! :O I love him too. They should have asked the even hotter brother Steve Jansen hubba, hubba!

  • This IS cooler than the more famous version.

    I didn't see this coming.

  • Not a Bang & Olufsen stereo.. It's a Nakamichi tape deck. Looks like a 1000 ZXL.

  • My God...Peter Murphy. I loved this ad. Thank you so much for posting this. He is just unbelievable live. And the fact that he is drop dead gorgeous and alluring does not hurt either. We Love Our Audience!

  • How cool does Pete Murphy look in this advert?

  • Yes, that is UK native Peter Murphy of Bauhaus. He must have made a zillion off that one. They liked his modern, high tech look if you will. The original "Blown Away Guy" was LA native Steve Steigman in the first Maxell commercial, not Peter.

  • God, thanks for sharing - I've not seen this for years

  • Johnny Knoxville and his buddies recreate this cult ad in 'Jackass 3D' hitiing UK cinemas in November 2010.

  • @DigitalCinemaMedia with the jet engine...classic ;-)

  • Not sure it can beat my Rega Planet CD player with Naim Nait amp...

  • haha. I herd Peter was the Maxell guy but didn't believe it till now.

  • Tan genial ese comercial *-*...

  • The dont make cassettes like this anymore. In fact they don't make cassettes anymore. Shame great advert!

  • Like the way Pete is sat in a Bauhaus architecture building

  • Thanks for uploading such a high quality video of a classic TV commercial from the '80s. It's weird to see Peter Murphy in such a mainstream commercial, but he has the right look for this ad.

  • ...Isn't this A Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky? It's not Rimsky-Korsakov...

Anyway, great ad! Peter murphy is amazing...

  • Thanks for uploading such a good quality copy of this. Gorgeous Peter...

  • Who's the guy? Wasn't it the lead from Bahaus?

  • Yes he was! He's my favorite singer Peter Murphy!

  • He looks damn scary.

  • Oh yes! I recall this super cool ad!! Wonder how our beloved Peter got this gig. His music should be playing....strange.

  • @catsb9 stood in line at a job center like i did this gig was advertised in lots of job centers around the country as well as all the other methods. i got short listed to the last three.but this guy got the job becuase he had an agent who pused it for him. at the time i looked like gary numan thin very pale with black hair and black eye liner. it s the type of look they were after.

  • @xwin9 "This guy" huh. haha. That would have been a blast for you to be a part of. Thanks for sharing your memory. Tell me more.

  • Ningun tipo, es PETER MURPHY, el padre de la musica gotica.

  • Thank You, but the music comes from Mussorgsky

  • Great memory! Thanks! By the way, it's not a Bang and Olufsen stereo it's a Nakamichi 1000ZXL Cassette deck. I know, I should get out more!! ;-)

  • Thanks for this!!!
