  • What jolly fun!

  • Cool toy you've got there.

  • good on yer, sport. fab. wunnerful!

  • This is the real skiffle!

  • I have sen several videos of Lonnie Lonegan's Skiffle Group, but it would be nice to have a complete (or near as possible) collection of his music. Is there a compilation album/CD available? I just love his voice, and many of his gospel songs are first rate.

  • there's quite a few on that well known auction site

  • One really good double cd Talking Guitar Blues - The Very Best of Lonnie Donegan on the Castle label NEECD325

  • Didn't your wife allow you to play inside ?

  • Funny you should say that....

  • Very nice, Henry!

  • onniman, I sold this player on ebay a year ago for £35 to someone in spain. It worked but condition was very poor. Most interest seems to be in southern Europe.

  • Hey, I'm interested about that player how much you think that one cost nowadays. We have same kind of player in a good shape. Just interested how valuable that may be.

  • boy that takes me back, lol.

  • Great recording! just the way i usually do things! Why did you get rid of the gramophone? there the best way of playing the best quality of music as i am sure you all know the quality of music on a record far out strip that of a CD. But of course CD's are cheap to produce. If you don't believe it ask any proper sound engineer (one that's had about 38 years of experience)!!!!!

  • Just out of interest where do you live cause the only people we know now without electricity live on top of a mountain in North Wales.

  • This was filmed at the end of my garden. There is no power within 100 feet. I am familiar with the sound quality argument. I have listened to music on this and the modern digitally enhanced equivalent and after much careful considreation and analysis of sonic comparison I am certain that there is no difference.

  • We had one of those Gramma phones in New Zealand to n the late 50,s early 60,s to and this band is a UK Skiffle band Lonnie Donnegan

  • Some say that Lonnie Donegan was the first in pop music. I think they are right.

  • Hi,

Can you tell me the artist and date of the recording. I've not heard this version before.

    Thanks.

  • Lonnie Donegan is the artist and I beleive this record came out in the late 50's. I no longer have the gramaphone or records so I'm afraid that's all I can tell you.

  • You have to get rid of the rust on your gramophone

  • I got rid of the gramaphone

  • lol

  • by the way that is an awesome record player

  • i have this same version on my ipod i have no clue of where i got it from

  • I love this song!! :]

  • Have you heard of a "CD" perhaps Limewire?

  • I don't have electricity, is this needed?

  • Seeing as you video taped this perhaps your a tool

  • There was no tape involved, except that holding the record player together

  • An Amish tool...

  • Are you using new needles with each play?, Oops, i hate when the reproducer falls off!

  • That caught me out completely, but I thought it was funny so didn't re-record it! I made this video in order to help sell it! The shortcut was posted on ebay and someone from Spain watched it and bought it. It made £35 but the postage was £75. He paid it so I assume they are in demand in the Med. Thanks for the witty comment :)

  • your welcome, if i was watching i think id want to buy the video along with the machine, so id have a good story to tell!!

  • This is why they invented electric gramaphones! You can buy a ION USB turntable from PC World for £120 and get rid of the scratches. However - a nice bit of nostalgia - I have a similar machine in the loft soewhere.
