I have sen several videos of Lonnie Lonegan's Skiffle Group, but it would be nice to have a complete (or near as possible) collection of his music. Is there a compilation album/CD available? I just love his voice, and many of his gospel songs are first rate.
onniman, I sold this player on ebay a year ago for £35 to someone in spain. It worked but condition was very poor. Most interest seems to be in southern Europe.
Hey, I'm interested about that player how much you think that one cost nowadays. We have same kind of player in a good shape. Just interested how valuable that may be.
Great recording! just the way i usually do things! Why did you get rid of the gramophone? there the best way of playing the best quality of music as i am sure you all know the quality of music on a record far out strip that of a CD. But of course CD's are cheap to produce. If you don't believe it ask any proper sound engineer (one that's had about 38 years of experience)!!!!!
This was filmed at the end of my garden. There is no power within 100 feet. I am familiar with the sound quality argument. I have listened to music on this and the modern digitally enhanced equivalent and after much careful considreation and analysis of sonic comparison I am certain that there is no difference.
Lonnie Donegan is the artist and I beleive this record came out in the late 50's. I no longer have the gramaphone or records so I'm afraid that's all I can tell you.
That caught me out completely, but I thought it was funny so didn't re-record it! I made this video in order to help sell it! The shortcut was posted on ebay and someone from Spain watched it and bought it. It made £35 but the postage was £75. He paid it so I assume they are in demand in the Med. Thanks for the witty comment :)
This is why they invented electric gramaphones! You can buy a ION USB turntable from PC World for £120 and get rid of the scratches. However - a nice bit of nostalgia - I have a similar machine in the loft soewhere.
What jolly fun!
