Actually, this isn't Rick at all. The singer and all the lead licks are Guitarist Danny Johnson, who also wrote the song. Rick is playing in the background.
Love his guitar on this. And I just realized too, I've mostly listened to the live version from the Derringer Live album. I never had this album. But, my brother did.
This was an album that other guitar players always talked about.....when you cranked it on your Sansui stereo system most people then would hear it and go "Who in the hell is this??? This kicks ass!!!!"...beleive me I was there!!
I also have this and all his others but it doesn't touch "derringer live" one of the most brutal live albums of all time, next to pat travers "go for what you know"
@HackerGuitarist It's great to know that someone's not forgotten that one. Back then there a slew of single-disc live albums that I like to call 'One-Hitter Quitters'. Meaning, they were more powerful than most of the 2-disc records! "Derringer Live" is truly one of the best!!!
@HackerGuitarist you are so right. Derringer live kills as does go for what you know and I'll add one more to the list from 77 and that is Foghat Live. BTW this is the first time I've ever heard the studio version of this song
@HackerGuitarist I agree on that about them two live-albums mentioned. But don't forget Mr Derringers work he did together with Edgar Winters White Trash, pretty awesome stuff there too, right? And of course that Johnny Winter Live And is one of the best rock'n'roll live-albums out there. The Winter bros also did a live-recording called Together where Rick Derringer among others R taking part. There they do one of the most killer-medleys I've ever heard - check it out!
This takes me back to high school, rockin' out by several kegs w/ raging hormones, watching hotties in Dolphin shorts. Great riffs for sure. I should have kept this album as it's pretty hard to find anymore.
@mackmull I used to know the same scene. Back when you partied down with the girls to rock 'n' roll, drank a lot of beer and twisted a few up. I had this album on CD, but I lost it somehow. I had to pull the old LP off of the shelves. Thanks for your comment! Mike

Written and sung By Danny Johnson. Love his two songs on "Sweet Evil" (One Eyed Jacks and Drivin' Sideways) as well.
