I know united has merged with continental. I made that comment 1 year ago lol. Since then I've had to fly with continental twice since then and my experience was fairly decent. Out of japan I always fly first class with united to sfo and the trip never fails to amaze me. My only complaint is the first class cabin was pretty ghetto.

Yeah, Continental sucks. They did the same thing to me twice! I didn't make my connecting flight out of Hawaii to Guam and Los Angelas to Sacramento. I was stuck in Hawaii for 3 days and I would have been stuck in Los Angelas for a week. Luckily I complained so much that they gave me a free rental car and reimburse me for fuel cost. Next time I go on vacation I'm going with United Airlines.
I don't know how they can get away with claiming "it is not our fault because it is weather related". You pay money and they provide a service- if that service is not provided for whatever reason then you should be reimbursed period. No matter the reason. If you pre-pay at the gas pumps and the lighting knocks the power out before you get your gas, you would be pissed if they just said "sorry we can't help the weather, here is a 1/2 price vaulter for a roach motel across the street'.

Hello. Just wanted to side with you on this. I was a flight attendant for 12 yrs w/United Airlines (started off booking flights for them). You are right it is Colgan not Continental. Each major commercial carrier contracts a smaller carrier (we had United Express) that smaller carrier can legally use the name (as in our case) United and our colors and logo. Continental contracts Colgan, and American uses a smaller carrier and goes by American Eagle and so on. Continental is not responsible here.

Well since you fail to know a thing about flying, let me explain what went on. The short version for under educated folks like your self is this. ice has built up on the wing and horizontal stabilizers, this creates a air separation pocket making it hard to pull the plane up, but easy to push down. This is common when ice builds up and the aircraft is on final. The aircraft was on auto pilot so the pilot had no clue of the ice build up, and the plane pitched down crashing. check inbox for vid.
THAT'S INTERESTING. The news reports said that particular aircraft had all the high tech equipment, all the "bells and whistles" (that's their exact terminology) for detecting ice build up on the leading edge.
ISN'T THAT STRANGE THAT NO ONE ELSE FELL OUT OF THE SKY EXCEPT THE PIECE OF SHIT DEATH TRAP, cuntinental.
ATC was even asking an aircraft RIGHT BEHIND THEM (3407) for a visual.
I read a news report that said this aircraft had a "rattle stick", where the yoke starts rattling if the aircraft is getting ready to stall on auto pilot.
The same report ALSO said the pilot went to auto pilot too soon after take off.
They were only 5-6 minutes from touch down and CRITICAL FLIGHT PERIODS are 0-3 minutes (take off) and
FINAL 8 MINUTES, as I recall.
WHAT THE HELL WAS HE DOING?!

The 'rattle stick" was from the plane entering the stall, from ice. If the pilot had control, it still would have crashed, he was too slow and low to recover. Get your facts straight, and when your in an Aerospace class then come and talk to me.

He was low and slow because he was a minute from landing, and see, that requires you get down to AGL 0 and be at less then 140 knots in that aircraft. Low and Slow, and they started recovery bringing the gear up and increasing power, just didn't have a chance.
Just ask the 115 passengers on the DIA flight Dec. 20th, '08 or the passengers who had to endure 7 hours in an airCRAPht cabin filled with human feces and urine AFTER A 24 HOUR DELAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM in '07.

Continental has canceled my flight twice now for St. Thomas out of New York, an hour before each flight, and now they say they wont issue me a refund. Worst. Airline. EVER.
No airline would wait 2 hours for a few customers, misconnecting most of the other connections downline. There is more to the story, most likely an existing ATC delay that caused the plane to sit anyway. I worked for an airline in customer svc 10 years ago and some pax would always think we were lying, no matter what the circumstances! CSRs should be polite, though, and the one on the video seemed polite.

The best thing you can do is write to CO, or better yet call their customer service hotline 1-800-WECARE2. This does sound like a lapse in customer service, but please don't peg the airline as bad. They really are one of the best of the bunch and normally strive to provide excellent service. I know, I flew the other 5 "legacy" carriers extensively and got fed up with them all. I now give CO ALL my business for their usually (<--key word) consistent quality product.

I can, if that flight was December 15, 2007, then the delay was due to weather in Houston. You may have waited a little extra to grab passengers from another connection, but overall, that delay was blocked in as weather delay, which would be why you were not given hotel. Any time the airline is at fault for the delay, such as waiting for passengers, then they are required by law to give you hotel, at that time, IAH was down to 2 runways while one was under going resurfacing.

I fly every day and we will gladly leave 5 minutes early missing a few passengers. I loved my customers, met some of the coolest people while I worked for them, shook the hand of Former President George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara when they got off my plane at gate C-31 at IAH. Met lots of cool people upstairs while I was on lunch.

Hello. Just wanted to side with you on this. I was a flight attendant for 12 yrs w/United Airlines (started off booking flights for them). You are right it is Colgan not Continental. Each major commercial carrier contracts a smaller carrier (we had United Express) that smaller carrier can legally use the name (as in our case) United and our colors and logo. Continental contracts Colgan, and American uses a smaller carrier and goes by American Eagle and so on. Continental is not responsible here.

Well since you fail to know a thing about flying, let me explain what went on. The short version for under educated folks like your self is this. ice has built up on the wing and horizontal stabilizers, this creates a air separation pocket making it hard to pull the plane up, but easy to push down. This is common when ice builds up and the aircraft is on final. The aircraft was on auto pilot so the pilot had no clue of the ice build up, and the plane pitched down crashing. check inbox for vid.

I read a news report that said this aircraft had a "rattle stick", where the yoke starts rattling if the aircraft is getting ready to stall on auto pilot.
The same report ALSO said the pilot went to auto pilot too soon after take off.
They were only 5-6 minutes from touch down and CRITICAL FLIGHT PERIODS are 0-3 minutes (take off) and
FINAL 8 MINUTES, as I recall.
WHAT THE HELL WAS HE DOING?!

The NTSB also found the pilots were within regs and ratings of the aircraft. News agency who has no clue and a tendency to report inaccurate information, or the NTSB? He was low and slow because he was a minute from landing, and see, that requires you get down to AGL 0 and be at less then 140 knots in that aircraft. Low and Slow, and they started recovery bringing the gear up and increasing power, just didn't have a chance.

No airline would wait 2 hours for a few customers, misconnecting most of the other connections downline. There is more to the story, most likely an existing ATC delay that caused the plane to sit anyway. I worked for an airline in customer svc 10 years ago and some pax would always think we were lying, no matter what the circumstances! CSRs should be polite, though, and the one on the video seemed polite.

The best thing you can do is write to CO, or better yet call their customer service hotline 1-800-WECARE2. This does sound like a lapse in customer service, but please don't peg the airline as bad. They really are one of the best of the bunch and normally strive to provide excellent service. I know, I flew the other 5 "legacy" carriers extensively and got fed up with them all. I now give CO ALL my business for their usually (<--key word) consistent quality product.

I can, if that flight was December 15, 2007, then the delay was due to weather in Houston. You may have waited a little extra to grab passengers from another connection, but overall, that delay was blocked in as weather delay, which would be why you were not given hotel. Any time the airline is at fault for the delay, such as waiting for passengers, then they are required by law to give you hotel, at that time, IAH was down to 2 runways while one was under going resurfacing.

you are probably another ignorant passenger who knows nothing about ATC or weather delays. We don't wait two hours for late passengers, trust me. I fly every day and we will gladly leave 5 minutes early missing a few passengers. The delay is either due to an ATC restriction at the departure or arrival airport, or weather... but of course you love playing the victim card to get attention. Pathetic. Bring your shit to another airline, get off mine.

I loved my customers, met some of the coolest people while I worked for them, shook the hand of Former President George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara when they got off my plane at gate C-31 at IAH. Met lots of cool people upstairs while I was on lunch.

Don't waste your time trying to explain this to airhead people. They will always blame delays and their crap on the ground agents and flight attendant, like they cause the delays themselves! People should just get on the plane and SIT THEIR ASSES down and Fricking SHUT THE F*** UP! Just the same way they do when they travel by train or the bus. Airline employees are no there to kiss anybody's asses! Keep up the great work at CO. Love Continental and it's my favorite airline!!!!
