I can tell by looking the sled weights are too low, that will cause the side to side wobble. It's very botton heavy. Even the weight out by holding it sideways and letting it drop back into position. The slower you can get it to drop the more balanced it is.
The rig looks really quite amazing - but the results didn't seem as good. Still, we all know that half the fun of a steadicam is knowing people are watching us! ;)
I genuinely think my $140 U-Flycam does a noticeably better job.
Im sorry, but I hate flycams. With your camera, you should seriously look into a real steadicam rig instead of that cheap imitation. I could honestly achieve better footage going handheld.
He's holding it at the correct spot. the pivot point is what keeps it steady. He's only using left hand to rotate camera and add some stability to the vertical position of the camera as he moves.
