the only thing you hear with closed bonnet it's only the high pressure fuel pump (the silver thing over the VW badge) which is not too bad, the car is not noisy, you cannot hear it from outside!

@Hubertradom po czym to mozna stwierdzic? Porwnalem 2 golfy VI (122 i 160) i wydaja podobne dzwieki ja ten. Po przejechaniu kilkaset km silnik zawsze glosniej chodzi, tak samo jak po starcie gdyz chodzi na 3000 obrotach przez 30s.

Epic fail.

Sounds like a 35 year old diesel engine which have ran out of engineoil+the engine is filled with gravel.

So that engine sounds broken, you should take the car to the scrapheap ASAP.

TSI- Compressor + Turbo, TFSI- only Compressor(like golf v GTI), TSI- Too 3,500 works Compressor and u heard that litle softy noise and when u get more 3,500 u can hear that Bass sound from Turbo. FSI-direct fuel injection - I Got G V 1.6 FSi and FSI dosent meak ENGINE more rough-they are more quiet that the normal ENgine.

@Prison2010 TSI and TFSI are the same. TSI = VW and TFSI the same engine but Audi. It´s only the name. Some TSI have a Compressor, some have a Turbo and some have a Compressor and a Turbo

io ho la golf vi 122 tsi ma il SOUND non è affatto cosi , cmq se cambi il filtro e metti anche un altra turbina a parte i cv in piu , il sound cambia drasticamente poi se monti anche lo scarico ABT non nè parliamo diventa un sound da Formula 1

E comunque non puoi paragonare una GP , anche se Abarth , ad una Golf , sono due auto di fascia diversa, non esiste proprio!

La GP può essere paragonata alla Polo.

Se guardi le prestazioni della Golf e della Bravo, vedrai che sono quasi equivalenti:

Bravo 120 cv, vel. 197 e 0-100 in 9.6s , Golf 1.4 122cv , vel. 200 e 0-100 in 9,5s.

Non mi sembra che ci sia molta differenza, quindi informati prima di parlare!

sii certo comee no , confronta anche il 155cv della fiat abarth e il 122cv della vw quasi la stessa velocità , e poi se prendi il 160 della vw no comment la fiat sta a per come si dice a napoli , e ricorda na fiat a una vw non si puo proprio paragonare

La VW Golf può essere paragonata alla Fiat Bravo, se poi tu preferisci la VW è un altro discorso, i gusti son gusti.

E poi io non parlavo delle prestazioni, ma del sound,prova a cercarti un video del sound della GP Abarth o della MiTo 155cv, che poi ne riparliamo!

naja im leerlauf klingt der motor wirklich schrecklich, aber gott sei dank hört man das im innenraum quasi gar nicht.

ich hatte vorher nen älteren V6, der klang natürlich tausendmal geiler, aber ganz ehrlich: der 1.4 TSI fühlt sich subjektiv eine ganze ecke spritziger an als mein 3.0 Liter V6 saugermotor. plus die tatsache, dass er gerade mal die hälfte (oder sogar noch weniger) verbraucht.

also ist wirklich ein "meisterwerk" von vw, kann man nicht anders sagen.

This engine has, a TurboCharger AND a SuperCharger and has the all important and reliable CHAIN DRIVEN CAM.

A chain does up the sound level a bit, but when your talking about reliability, WHO CARES ABOUT THE SOUND...

Modern cars have LOTS of soundproofing, so if you dont like the sound of the engine, dont buy the car.

I like it, your getting 122 right up to 170 Hp out of a 1.4 ENGINE, so quit your whinging!!!!!

They BOTH have turbochargers AND supechargers, the performance and cost of the components in the 122 and 170 outputs are different.

If you dont want to accept it, stuff the turbo from the 170 up your arse, and the supercharger from the 122 in your ear.

It really sounds horrible... Actually, I liked the VW engineers for a few seconds when they finally began to put turbos on small engines, but now, I'd have all the other manufacturers' turbo engines, but this never. Call the engine as they want, the base is still the same. Both 1.4 and 1.6 engines are very popular for no reason, I drove both multiple times in multiple cars, neither proved to be good, not even a little bit.

That sound is a bad side on those 1.4L engines, but it's very easily fixable by replacing the exhaust with something more noisy. I will have the same car soon, but first change I will do on it will be the exhaust.
