Me being a firefighter, I believe they had a right to take him to the ground if he was getting violent, but you don't need to hit him, or kick him. I don't agree with the kicking of the man while he is restrained either, everything else was justified, he walked by three times giving those guys a hard time. I really would like to see further events leading up to this though, there has to be more to the story than just the end part that we saw here. It was a downtown Portland apartment building. The guy who was being tackled and kicked admitted that he was being verbally abusive toward the firefighters. He also admits he was annoyed that the firefighters were there.

What an embarrasment, I'm a full time FF and if this ever happened in my department you can bet that all of these guys would be looking for another job the very next day. If cops aren't allowed to kick people while they are on the ground I don't know why these guys should. I don't agree with the kicking of the man while he is restrained either, everything else was justified, he walked by three times giving those guys a hard time. They had enough people to hold him until the police could arrest him. I am a firefighter, and paramedic, and you can't just go kicking a guy when he is down. I'm not too sure about that kick, maybe that was a little excessive, but his body language, the way he started stepping up to the firefighter, yeah that gives off a bad sign, and he should of been taken down and out.. Anyone who has ever been through a fire academy learns the kind of brotherhood you have with your comrades. And on a real department their lives are in your hands and vice versa. i live in england and often when the engines turn up the little cherabs come out and start cutting the hoses with nives and throwing bricks at the tenders these little angles need a slap now and then but the fire men cant do sod all cos of the camras on all the tenders so they get away with it .if you turn the hose on them they claim asoult little basterds good on these guys he started being rough so he got whot he wonted a fat lip and damaged pride good lads

In total, I will make 30,650 dollars this year. On weekends I work 24 hour shifts. During the school week, I work from 7:00 P.M. until 7:00 A.M. The other EMS job, I work from 2:30 P.M. until 7:00 A.M. It isn't for the money you faggot. I'm looking forward to talking to you over Police Corruption. Like shooting fish in a barrel.

First let me say that I am in no way condoning the way that the situation was handled. I really would like to see further events leading up to this though, there has to be more to the story than just the end part that we saw here. It looks as though there was some sort of disturbance before this video started. I would like to see that part of it, and audio would be nice. They deffinately should not have jumped the guy though. If it was my crew there would be hell to pay ya just dont do that

You try dealing with a patient and having their love ones screaming cause they are panicing... You go to a scene in a bad neighborhood where you can get shot and not get any cops out there to protect you...then you can start talking some shit...but after you live it you won't say anything bad about what they did...

Ok, so the lesson that children are being taught here is, if you feel threatened, take 'em out and shoot 'em down.
I get a kick out of firemen, cops, and military and occasionally EMTs who feel they deserve hero worship.
I say, that's your job, that's what you are paid to do, that's the career you wanted.

I run into idiots like that guy every night on my shift. They tell me how to do my job and bitch that we are in their way even when we're trying to save a life, but you have to let it roll off your back and just do your duty...let the cops be cops. I stand by my brother firefighters to the end and that a**hole probably had it coming but the firefighters lost their cool and over-reacted. They started that fight with that dude and that makes us all look bad...even if it is 1AM.

Where I am from assaulting a ff in uniform is the same as assaulting a LEO. I hope they press charges on him.. like our job isn't hard enough! FF, LEO, or EMS... doesn't matter.. we shouldn't have to deal with people like that, but we all have & will, thank goodness we have laws protecting us if we need to handle a situation where we are threatened.

ya know we go into EMS scenes with no other protection than our wits and fists, often pts or bystanders get aggressive or emotional due to mental illness, ETOH or drugs, or the emotion of the situation, we have to defend ourselves especially if PD isn't on scene yet, I have personally come to an EMS scene and walked into a crime scene where we had no idea if the perp was still on scene and intent on doing us harms,here in St. Louis over the summer a ff was killed at a CAR FIRE

It was a downtown Portland apartment building. The guy who was being tackled and kicked admitted that he was being verbally abusive toward the firefighters. He also admits he was annoyed that the firefighters were there.

What an embarrasment, I'm a full time FF and if this ever happened in my department you can bet that all of these guys would be looking for another job the very next day. If cops aren't allowed to kick people while they are on the ground I don't know why these guys should. Yes firefighting is a stressful job but you are still expected to maintain a certain level of composure, that is why you were hired to begin with. If you wanna act like a kid go flip burgers.
