@Darkangel4880 Do a little research the z06 has a 427ci 7.0 motor that is de-tuned to 505hp 500tq. a tune give you about 40hp. a gt40 is a twin turbo 5.4l motor both cars probably have 550hp. But the z06 has no turbo lag and produces more torque. that z06 is under 80k as well vs the ford gts $500,000 dollar price tag....

Also it has no lag because it has a positive displacement blower. The C6ZO6 does not have 500TQ more like 470ft lbs. Let's see. What else did you get wrong. Oh. The Ford GT is about 150K when introduced. Also a tune does not get 40HP on a stock C6Z. If both cars were stock this is drivers race with Z favored in 1/4 mile run
@Unedibletaco but the Ford GT has longer gears so it will pull once pass 140MPH. C6Z has very tall 5th gear.Ford GT can get to 140MPH in 3rd gear where the ZO6 gets to about 123MPH in 3rd. Both great cars. Overall the Ford GT is a very stout car to modify. The stock fuel system alone can support 1000RWHP and the stock engine is good to 1200. The LS7 is pretty much maxed at about 620RWHP N/A HP and 670RWHP if you use boost. LS7 can only run about 5-7 lbs interccooled boost because its thin walled

Remember that the Vette has an intake & tune which can produce big HP numbers if done by the right person. The Ford GT is plain Awesome IMO and with the twin turbo kit produces 1200+ HP. Not to take anything away from the new ZR1 because it too is a super car that is insanely fast. Ford stopped building the GT and Chevy is supposed to change the "new" Vette to a smaller displacement higher revving engine (bad idea IMO) why not leave a good thing alone? They are both truly amazing cars.
@fifafan1 I understand why they are doing it, however I think it's a big mistake. Do you remember the backlash from vette owners in 1987 when the Buick GNX was faster than the vette? again when they deleted the flip up headlights? These were minor compared to this. Chevrolet is going to remove the "heart" of what makes this car special and turn it into something entirely different. I am in no way a Chevy guy but the Corvette, especially the ZR1 is something that is near perfect as it is.

Stock for stock yes we know things would most likely be different assuming similar car weight and driver skill GT:550 crank hp Z06:505 crank hp....and last time I checked, cars don't wreck each other, bad drivers do. =)

The thing is, the Ford GT cost $150,000 stock. That Corvette z06 starts at $74,000. That leaves you alittle over $72,000 to Mod the Vette to make it even faster. Or you could buy the Corvette ZR1, which is GM's super Corvette to date and still have about $40,000 left over to blow on your car. Me personally, I like the Ford GT, but the price tag on it is WAY to expensive for what you get. Ford GT's price tag is up there with the Ferrari's and Lambo's.

@MIGHTYSAMINYOURFACE i was just posting facts, the nurburgring is a test of how stock cars perform, back in 06 the z06 and gt had identical times. they are both equaly great cars when they where the same tires, people think the gt is fatser and better because its more rare and expensive. i like them both, and the fanboys are crazy about both cars, arguing ride quality and spped, both arnt luxury, and there only as fast as the pockets of the owner.
It goes without saying, remove the mods from the Z06 and the race goes the other way. Add the same mods to the ford gt (intake tune) while leaving them on the Z06 and the GT will still walk away. Man up to a 200 dollar pulley along with that intake/tune and you get to see another 200+ horsepower lol.
People people stop burning our own cars, they're both great. Remember, the real enemy is European supercars like the Ferrari 458 Italia or Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. And Japanese ricers such as the Honda Civic and Japanese super cars like the Nissan GT-R. Those are our real enemy, not each other.

The 2012 Zr1 did 7:19.6 on Nurburgring, the 7th fastest lap time there out of over 260 cars and 2012 Zo6, Zo7 package delivered 7:22.6 the 9th fastest lap time. Also 8th fastest is another American car, the 2008 Dodge Viper ACR at time of 7:22.1. Against Ferrari Enzo's time of 7:25.2. Open your eyes.

@Darkangel4880 Do a little research the z06 has a 427ci 7.0 motor that is de-tuned to 505hp 500tq. a tune give you about 40hp. a gt40 is a twin turbo 5.4l motor both cars probably have 550hp. But the z06 has no turbo lag and produces more torque. that z06 is under 80k as well vs the ford gts $500,000 dollar price tag....

Also it has no lag because it has a positive displacement blower. The C6ZO6 does not have 500TQ more like 470ft lbs. Let's see. What else did you get wrong. Oh. The Ford GT is about 150K when introduced. Also a tune does not get 40HP on a stock C6Z. If both cars were stock this is drivers race with Z favored in 1/4 mile run

@Unedibletaco but the Ford GT has longer gears so it will pull once pass 140MPH. C6Z has very tall 5th gear.Ford GT can get to 140MPH in 3rd gear where the ZO6 gets to about 123MPH in 3rd. Both great cars. Overall the Ford GT is a very stout car to modify. The stock fuel system alone can support 1000RWHP and the stock engine is good to 1200. The LS7 is pretty much maxed at about 620RWHP N/A HP and 670RWHP if you use boost. LS7 can only run about 5-7 lbs interccooled boost because its thin walled

Remember that the Vette has an intake & tune which can produce big HP numbers if done by the right person. The Ford GT is plain Awesome IMO and with the twin turbo kit produces 1200+ HP. Not to take anything away from the new ZR1 because it too is a super car that is insanely fast. Ford stopped building the GT and Chevy is supposed to change the "new" Vette to a smaller displacement higher revving engine (bad idea IMO) why not leave a good thing alone? They are both truly amazing cars.

@fifafan1 I understand why they are doing it, however I think it's a big mistake. Do you remember the backlash from vette owners in 1987 when the Buick GNX was faster than the vette? again when they deleted the flip up headlights? These were minor compared to this. Chevrolet is going to remove the "heart" of what makes this car special and turn it into something entirely different. I am in no way a Chevy guy but the Corvette, especially the ZR1 is something that is near perfect as it is.

The thing is, the Ford GT cost $150,000 stock. That Corvette z06 starts at $74,000. That leaves you alittle over $72,000 to Mod the Vette to make it even faster. Or you could buy the Corvette ZR1, which is GM's super Corvette to date and still have about $40,000 left over to blow on your car. Me personally, I like the Ford GT, but the price tag on it is WAY to expensive for what you get. Ford GT's price tag is up there with the Ferrari's and Lambo's.

It goes without saying, remove the mods from the Z06 and the race goes the other way. Add the same mods to the ford gt (intake tune) while leaving them on the Z06 and the GT will still walk away. @Harutmakina You're an idiot. The Italia sucks compared to the modern C6 Zo6 and Zr1. Corvette was MADE to corner. Forget Top Gear track, that's just a little track that barely matters. The 2012 Zr1 did 7:19.6 on Nurburgring, the 7th fastest lap time there out of over 260 cars and 2012 Zo6, Zo7 package delivered 7:22.6 the 9th fastest lap time. Also 8th fastest is another American car, the 2008 Dodge Viper ACR at time of 7:22.1. Against Ferrari Enzo's time of 7:25.2. Open your eyes.
