When the trailer first came out I was so pumped for this. Tales of Symphonia was one of the best games I've ever played. They botched up a lot of things ranging from small to really big in this game:
Firstly, the storyline is COMPLETELY new. If they changed the characters and towns then this could be its own separate title.
Secondly, the lack of a world map is disappointing.
Thirdly, Level Caps. No Kratos. No Cut-Ins for the Hi Ougis. Inability to purchase equipment for the old Tales cast...
I actually think this game wasnt that bad. I could tolerate the new voices. And the new monster capture system was cool. The new characters were awesome and were developed very well.
The storyline was done well and even has good plot twist here and there. I think could of used new area's and dugeons instead of recycling alot of areas in tos1 otherwise I liked it.
This might seem a bit obessesive and nerdy.. But, I LOVED Tales of Symphonia and I played it 19 times through and I'd come out satisfied each time. I totally love the original characters and I feel really close to them because they were just amazing. None of the characters, even Colette, annoyed me at all and everything was just so friggin AWESOME. But then I got ToS2 and I watched the intro and began disliking it. The 2 main characters are annoying as hell and I was SO let down..

The first ToS was wonderful. I wanted a sequel so badly, but DotNW decided to mess up everything. Hell, why did it need new protagonists and Centurions and monster raising? That could've been its own game. They could've at least made us able to level up the old characters. I wish this was non-canon.
If I remember correctly, they don't level up if you play with them, only if you progress the story, and even then they max out at level 50. So no, they don't allow you to level up the old cast. Horrible game.
Totally agree. Tales games is bought for it brilliant story telling. This felt like a cheap shot to loyal fans of the series, and was trying to build a new fan base. Thats why we have Poke'mon for.

None, it's a new story set two years after the worlds were reunited and focuses on the numerous prblems the regenerated world is facing.
There is a war between the Tethe Allan's and the Sylvaranti, meanwhile nature is going out of control because the original summon spirits of the world are in deep slumber, so the heroes must solve both problems and deal with their personal issues too, wich are also part of both major plots.
game focuses on emil trying to figure out what's up with lloyd as you find out lloyd kills your parents in the beginning cutscene. things unravel and stuff as you progress. i like this game more than the first cause i put down the first game for awhile, got lost, and couldn't find out where i was. the 2nd game, there's a journal that really accurately states where you gotta go next and what you just did so i like that.
In resume, Emil is the principal character along with Marta, but the heroes from the previous game, Lloyd, Colette, Genis, Raine, Zelos, Sheena, Presea and Regal also join you.
oh man this game looks so epic lol but i'd deffinately use my fav 4 characters from tos1 (lloyd, regal, presea, sheena) otherwise it just wouldnt be the same
Not at all. In fact, you'd probobly get all giggly everytime a character you've seen in the Wii version pops up in the GC one. Also, you'd realize why everyone loves and respects Lloyd. :P

ive beaten this game like 5 times, and ya no, the monster+pact part of the game reminds me of pokemon, in this game, u beat the snot out of a monster, then if u met the requirements u make a pact with them, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. In pokemon, you beat teh snot out of a pokemon, chuck a pokeball at it, and sometimes it wil catch them sumtimes not, and they both have factors making it more or less likely to work X.X
You must be one of those "20th century" gamers, you probably don't know ur retro history. FF came out for NES, and still Nintendo has alot more RPG games, and everyone knows that "Street Fighters" is more famous than Tekken
JRPGs have always been more about presentation than actual graphics quality. That's why I wish there were more JRPGs on the wii. So many possibilities for special moves with the wii-mote =(

ya its a really good game. its $50.00 but id say its worth it. storyline is good to id buy it if i were u(u also can play with 4 other players as soon as u unlock more human characters wich isnt hard)
I played Tales of Symphonia for over 1800 hours, so when ToS2 came out I freaked out and pulled about 3 all nighters trying to beat it as fast as I could! I love this game!
The first game is for GC, and can be played with wii of course.

But the first game rules!!! It's got epic story, lots and lots of gaming, free exploring, fun dialogues, battles, and lots of achievements and unlockables. I really recommend it.

In my own point of view, this is much better than
the first T.O.S. (again, i repeat...this is an opinion)
No offense to Lloyd fans here, but I like Emil better. He is much cooler despite of his cowardly actions in the beginning, and not to mention his "pansy" voice. err, that's what I call it, "pansy." haha >:]

ive beaten this game like 5 times, and ya no, the monster+pact part of the game reminds me of pokemon, in this game, u beat the snot out of a monster, then if u met the requirements u make a pact with them, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. In pokemon, you beat teh snot out of a pokemon, chuck a pokeball at it, and sometimes it wil catch them sumtimes not, and they both have factors making it more or less likely to work X.X

You must be one of those "20th century" gamers, you probably don't know ur retro history. FF came out for NES, and still Nintendo has alot more RPG games, and everyone knows that "Street Fighters" is more famous than Tekken

JRPGs have always been more about presentation than actual graphics quality. That's why I wish there were more JRPGs on the wii. So many possibilities for special moves with the wii-mote =(

I beat the game in 23 hours... so lol, not much, it is an ok game I guess, but the first ToS is way better, and no, only 1 CD. But it's worth playing though ^^

ya its a really good game. its $50.00 but id say its worth it. storyline is good to id buy it if i were u(u also can play with 4 other players as soon as u unlock more human characters wich isnt hard)

I played Tales of Symphonia for over 1800 hours, so when ToS2 came out I freaked out and pulled about 3 all nighters trying to beat it as fast as I could! I love this game!

The first game is for GC, and can be played with wii of course.
I don't know about this game, I've heard it's very short, and has limited exploring...
But the first game rules!!! It's got epic story, lots and lots of gaming, free exploring, fun dialogues, battles, and lots of achievements and unlockables. I really recommend it.
I think I'll get this game, for the story, but I'm a bit reserved as to what to expect...

Is it out in America yet? It was to come out in December and I haven't seen a commercial or heard anything about it.
Plus, I only bought the first one for the story was becoming very appealing after the renting of blockbuster and bought it 6 years later. Like SSBM :D ...Can anyone answer my stupid question?

thanks telling me! now i HAVE to get the first game =) and yeah...this game is kinda short...i was a little disappointed when it ended so suddenly but none the less it still had a great ending and story line. p.s. villans rock =P and ALOT of people from the first game are in this one
