  • do you have piccolo bass strings on that bas if so sweet

  • it definitely sounds very tony grey-ish. And I mean it in a (very) good way.

  • amazing! what's your new audio interface? and are you a senior student or already a graduate at Berklee?

  • weather channel music

  • I should hit you in the face.

  • I can see why he related it to dubstep, because of the scale he used, either phrygian or harmonic minor.

  • Sigh, gg no re

  • haha yea dubstep is koo but dam this takes about 10 times the talent

  • What the fuck?

  • amazing man , how long hve u been playing?

  • jazzstep? i hear some steppy elements on the drums so the jam is sorta related to dubstep yet its still different. post-post-dubstep or something. its new

  • smooth jazz yes! dubstep not so much

  • dude, this is great stuff, but not dubstep. However, its would be a perfect background track for dubstep. I see where you are going with this; and if the right dubstep got a hold of this, it would be the sickest thing.

  • sounds awesome , really sick , groovy and kinda ambient .

u could make jazzy or funky shit unkow .

or try Fruity loops for dubstep , if that+s what ur after.

but still . nice =) man

  • Dubstep is freakin' dirty, but this sutff ain't!

It's too beautiful to be any sort of Dubstep!

    But dubstap rockz =)

  • Awesome, but LOL how is this related at all to dubstep...

  • Two qestions: What kind of interface do you use, and what kind of bass is that?

    Sounds great!

  • not dubstep...

  • @wqsa8 He didn't say it was dubstep...he said electronica...two different things. Reminds me of Squarepusher.

  • yea Havic.!!! Diggin it! that fill at :58ish was rediculous. Check out some of my jazz vids i need some critics.

  • Awesome playing man! ....but dubstep isn't what came to mind. at all.

  • this is amazing! i wouldn't be able to write jazz of this calibre if i spent an hour on it, let alone improvised. congrats brother.

  • Okay, so I`m a bass player too, but, obviously, not this good. I just wanted to ask, what scales ar you using? And maybe can you suggest some books for noobs? I would like to learn music theory, but ya know, I`m still a teenager and I don`t have time to go to private classes. BTW, wicked skills. Loving your compositions, specially "Was it a Car or a Cat I Saw?"

  • love what you're doing!! it's certainly not dubstep tho!

  • Excellent !

what effects or stomp box are you using if any?

  • @Azaan1016 Just garage band, man. A little garage band reverb and compression, that's it.

  • Love it! How much of a difference did you notice when you put on your ramp? I've been thinking about getting one...

  • Well, it depends on how high you set your ramp. If you set it high, its a huge adjustment from what you're normally used to, but worth it if you're into playing like this. It took me about a year taking the ramp on and off to finally decide I liked it.

  • What does a ramp do?

  • It gives you +600 experience points, haha.

Basically what it does is prevent your fingers from going a certain distance beyond the strings. This doesn't seem like much, but it forces you to play with a much lighter touch and (theoretically anyway) lets you play faster. That's obviously debatable, but some techniques like matt garrison 4-finger plucking almost require a ramp. It's a feel thing more than anything else. I'd suggest trying a bass with a ramp and see what you think.

  • Whats your made of Havic? Some kind of wood? It almost looks plastic?

  • It's a laminated slab of wood I sawed off a desk my roommate was throwing away. Probably not the most precise way to do it, but definitely the cheapest, haha.

  • Cool. Also, is it radiused? and is the height equal to that of your two pickups? People are always saying radiused ramps are the best way to go...do you find it ok?

  • Haha, no, its just flat. A radiused pickup would be awesome, but that would be costly to have made versus just a flat piece of wood. I use double sided tape to stick it to the bass, and i have enough wedged in there to equal the height of my pickups. It's a very ad hoc job. I find the flat ramp perfectly fine.

  • Good stuff. Time to find me a piece of wood...

  • Cool that you're using a ramp. When I bought my last bass one came with it, also put it on and took it off a hundred times untill I realized I liked it. For me it affects tone too, not so much "bump" on the front of the note.

  • Great stuff!

  • genius!!! :)
