Hey guys, remember how the writers wanted Ash to make a fresh start for Unova? Well this explains why he sucks so bad right now. It's not him, its his Pokemon. They're inexperienced with Pokemon in Unova. Like in Dragon Ball GT, the way the series makes Goku and his friends look weak, Best Wishes/Black and White makes Ash look like a beginner. He lost to a Trainer who IS a beginner. (Trip) The writers don't even watch every single episode of Pokemon up to B&W so that's why the story is bad.

Now they say he's 10 despite the fact that they celebrated one of is birthdays before so maybe he de-aged and lost his experience... @Snottytv Pikachu lost to Trip's Snivy because he was unable to use his signature Electric type moves. Iron Tail and Quick Attack wasn't even enough to take down Snivy because Pikachu's more accustomed to his Electric type moves.

@animechats2 The difference between the game and the anime is that the trainer doesn't choose when the pokemon will evolve the pokemon evolves if it wants to evolve (Usually in life or death situations). Bulbasaur refuses to evolve. Red has a freaking Pikachu unevolved. If Squirtle evolved there would be no Squirtle Squad. ect. ect. Ash fails because he releases his awesome pokemon.

The series could have ended right here and that would have been a great ending. The show would have started with Ash as a novice trainer not knowing how anything worked, traveling the world learning and growing along the way. He did not always succeed, but was determined to push forward no matter what. All of his losses, victories, experiences leading up to the person Ash had become, a prestigious trainer, the elite of elite, A Frontier Brain. Many challenge, but few glimpse upon victory
