Gary Oldman is beyond the average Actor. Gary Oldman is one of the very few Actor's who are so frighteningly realistic and scary that even in the shitiest of role's ( Fifth Element anyone? He deserved better ) he make's it work because that is what a real Actor is supposed to do, to act the part and sometime's be more. Gary is always more.
He was nominated for Best villain in Air Force One, but lost to Mike Myers for Dr. Evil. I can't believe that, cause in the movie he made Harrison Ford choose which person to kill, his wife or his daughter, his character in that movie was PURE EVIL. But he did an excellent job in it.
@crob2989 I'm convinced that he could play any role and invest it with truth, humor, and make it totally believable. I read that Mel Gibson compared him to Mr. Potato Head, and I say Mel could only hope that he had Gary's talent, looks and character. Gary himself said one must have ego to be an actor, but he seems to have none to let himself become some of the characters that he has portrayed. He is the GREATEST!

I have enjoyed just about every film he has been in ever since. Hes just a fuckin talented actor. I mean compare him to Ray Winstone, who is great but he plays the same part over and over again, Gary Oldman can play any part!!

Wow! I was just watching Hannibal, the movie he was in w/ Anthony Hopkins, and hearing Oldman's creepy voice reminded me of Ledger's joker!

A true actor's actor: my favorite actor since Leon.
Truly the best American accent a Brit ever recorded in history: the man just has the deep FEEL for it.
Also, he can do what very few serious actors can: do comedy well. Comedy is more difficult than drama, and he can do it all.
The best real actor of his generation (fudge Sean Penn or Captain Jack).
Also, in the Professional as Norman Stansfield, the #1 Greatest Villain of All Time- fully on par with Nosferatu and Darth Vader.

If you haven't seen it yet you should watch his performance in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead... he plays Rosencrantz and is really funny and cute in it. It also star Tim Roth who is from Lie To Me and he was also the original actor that they wanted to play Snape.

Wow! I was just watching Hannibal, the movie he was in w/ Anthony Hopkins, and hearing Oldman's creepy voice reminded me of Ledger's joker!
I say Oldman should do the Joker's role as well as Gordon! And if they're going to do the third batman with the characters being older. . . even better!
Just put some Joker make-up on Gary, and nobody would tell the difference.
Though I say the next movie should have Johnny Depp as the Riddler :) and focus on him ^
