I figure I'm not the only one to suggest this, but there was a break between humanity and nature that occurred, probably @ the onset of agriculture, which was definitely a sort of declaration that humanity was headed toward it's own becoming - this break has, therefore ever since, set us upon a path that will eventually necessitate a conquering of earth, this may be destructive. We are certainly harming the earth.
Before a chick can grow on it's own, the egg must break (if this analogy fits).
