Would love to see a full rerecording of When Dream and Day Unite with LaBrie on vocals. There's a bunch of really good stuff on that album. Charlie's voice is pretty good, but I feel LaBrie fits the DT style much better.
Well we could Substitute Lebrie for Johnny Gioeli, Good singer. But you have to ask yourself would he fit? Who else would be a fit? I'll admit I find myself saying sometimes, "James, you can do better than that." Because he can! He sings great. And if someone doesn't like him well that's ok, because I do.
I am aware that he had throat surery, and that he hasn't been the same since. However, if an athlete has a devastating injury and can never perform at a top level, you don't see them hang around, dragging the team down do you? No, because they retire.
That's why if he is gonna stay and suck ass, I will let everyone know, and all you fan boys can go suck balls like him.

I thought James and Jordan did a good job here. Granted, James' voice is kinda fucked up in this concert, but they both kept the song sounding like the original rather than the "new" version of it. Mike, on the other hand, decided to do a little more complex drumming.
I don't think Charlie is better than James on the old songs. James sings them well and has a very fitting tone for the band's songs -- even the early ones (songs). He actually kinda sings this one a lot like Charlie.
P.S. Kevin wrote the LYRICS to this song. The band writes all the music. Look at the credits in the album jackets (if any of you still buy albums). I guess technically he did contribute to the song but don't make it like he single-handedly created this whole beast.
You can hear the songs weren't written for James' voice. There's notes that are really difficult for him and you can hear that he can do better, it's a difficult song for him. I think he did a really good job singing a song that was written for somebody with a totally different voice.

JP looked unusually focused for a relativley easy guitar song, perhaps he is human after all. But I still think JR is a robot. Or at least has cyborg hands, capable of super human feats at the keyboard.
And MP looked quite strange. He could have played Nostradamus in a movie dressed like that.

LaBrie was really bad on this DVD... and I usually don't mind him... I even like him most of the time, admittedly. Budokan was just an off night for this guy.
However, this DVD is the best I've seen of Petrucci, Rudess and Portnoy. Love the arrangement of the orchestral bit by Rudess here.
