Kill screens are simply the "end" of the game, where the game motherboard runs out of data, which makes the game glitch, killing the character (Jumpman) within five seconds.
So basically, the kill screen is the impossible board in the game, when the entire game is beaten.
Steve Wiebe actually held the high score record for almost 3 years, and when his videotaped score of 1,006,000 points was rejected, the record actually reverted back to Wiebe's own previous record reached in 2003 — it did not revert to Billy Mitchell's 1982 score as implied by the film.
Are you referring to that video taped high score from King of Kong? That's one of my few gripes with that movie. The King of Kong omits the fact that after that night, Twin Galaxies removed the score and declared that Billy's taped score was made by cheating. Only later did Billy make a new world record, in front of a live audience with over 300 witnesses on an official Donkey Kong board- no cheating.

Twin Galaxies was a term coined by Billy "The Mullet" Mitchell, Brian Kuh and Walter Day while trying to push a pair of nuts into dark voids during power failures.
The original term was Packing a man, hence Pacman. But after Brian Kuh joined in the fun Billy Mitchell had two black holes in which to attempt to place his nuts, hence Twin Galaxies.

The movie was portrayed in such a way to make it more appealing to the viewers. Steve's score of 1,006,000 was rejected but later re-categorized because he played on a double donkey kong board. Billy's tape was rejected later, and his score was taken down 48 hours later. As i said, due to the rejection of Billys tape, Steve held the record of 947,200 for 3 years. Billy and Steve actually got on quiet well. The resturant scene: Billy actually had lunch with Steve which it didn't show in the movie

Also, this score is 947,000. The score from the funspot tournament shown in kok was 985,000. It could have been from the same tournament, but it wasn't the one with Brian Kuh announcing the kill screen to everybody.

No im not talking about the high score just set.. Theres no USA initials on that machine and all are very high scores. This means no Billy Mitchell score on that machine at all. Thats what I was referencing.

Yeah, I know. The only reason Billy Mitchell dosn't have a high score on that machine is because he NEVER plays in public, and people say that the machine at that place is one of the hardest and most random machines to play on. Billy sucks and cant play under presure.

I bet you say that after hearing nothing about it except the movie. A week or so the movie was released Billy Mitchell did a live score that beat Steve Wiebe's. In fact, he played until he had beaten steve's score by just 1,000 points and then killed off his game 5 SCREENS before the kill. Those 5 screens could have given him over 50,000 more points. Also, that machine doesn't have billy's score on it because donkey kong doesn't save scores. When the machine is turned off all scores are erased.

Yeah, but I don't think you understand what I'm trying to say. There is a major difference between Steve and Billy. Steve has kids, and a job and things to do. The only thing billy has to do is sit around and play the 4 or 5 arcade games that he is good at. If I sat around all day everyday for 20+ years and just played donkey Kong I'm sure I could beat Billy no problem. Steve is a respectful person that was just naturally good at DK. Billy has just been playing for a long time.

Billy has a wife (don't know about kids) and a job too, though. So he probably doesn't just play Donkey kong all day Everyday. Billy didn't even have the record when Steve beat it, so it's not like he was constantly defending it. He probably took it back just because of the movie bashing him (or at least, trying to make him look bad.)

He doesn't have kids, and he didn't have the donkey kong record when steve took it, but he was defending records in like 3 other games at the time. He has been playing the same 4 or 5 games that he has records in since they came out over 25 years ago...

I never said he wasn't good. I said he has manufactured talent. Steve has natrual talent. It's perfectly logical reasoning. I'll use playing the guitar for an example. Anyone who plays the guitar for we'll say 5+ years is going to eventually be good as long as said person practices. But it takes a special kind of person to be able to pick it up practice for a couple months and then be able to play like they have been playing for years... Thats called talent.

Basically there is not enough ram to finish the last level of the game, and the player dies on the kill screen. Most games just come up as a bunch of garbled graphics. But Donkey Kong allows players to play a short while before the game ends,
