In which country? In any case, those were the result of Stalin, and Stalinism. It's not as if the Russians as a whole were some menace. The echelons of both sides were horrendous, but the Nazi's were far worse in that almost their entire country supported the wars and their causes. The Soviets fought out of defense, and then later Stalin used it to gain the Eastern bloc. No matter how you slice it, saying the Russians were worse than Hitler is not a correct. Stalin? Maybe. The people? No.
@DarkGreenMenace While I don't deny that Stalin had some unpalatable things done during his tenure, I would argue that there really isn't enough hard evidence to accuse him of the kinds of atrocities which have become synonymous with his name. A great book on the subject (albeit one which is somewhat hard to get your hands on) is "Khrushchev Lied," by Prof. Grover Furr. He exposes the entire de-Stalinization program through evidenciary analysis, and it's worth reading.
@MisanthropicMarxist This may sound stupid, but Wikipedia says otherwise. Pages on people like Stalin are closely moderated and checked accordingly to multiple verifiable and trustworthy sources. Check this out: en . wikipedia. org/ wiki/ Stalin # Calculating_the_number_of_victims
This credits him sometimes with even more 'kills' than Hitler (11 million), although I believe that under Mao even more people were killed than both Hitler and Stalin. Gotta check my source on that one, though.
@MrBramthebird I don't doubt that Wikipedia says otherwise, but there is no evidence for official planning of the Ukranian famine, and the numbers themselves have been inflated by using faulty calculations(the most popular method is to look at population growth rates and measure accordingly, but they fail to take into account the significant social upheaval's effects on the rate of growth). This same tactic is often used on the Soviet Union in general, again without consideration
@MisanthropicMarxist read this: en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Holodomor#The_special_nature_of_famine_in_Ukraine about a summary of passed laws that largely created the famine and: en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Causes_of_the_Holodomor
These articles point towards the Soviet government as main suspect for the Ukranian famine. Even if the government had not deliberately planned the famine, they did nothing to aid their starving citizens. Stalin must have been aware of this.
@MisanthropicMarxist [contd.] the famine caused the death by starvation of at least 2.4 million normal citizens. Even if some people claim that the number was 10+ million, you cannot say that 2.4 million innocent, normal people dead is agreeable. If me or you had lived then, we could have died the same.
Stalin's famous quote well summarizes the ruthlessness of the Soviet policy towards these and other atrocities committed under Soviet rule: "One death is a tragedy; one million is a statistic."
@MrBramthebird He may have been aware, but there was little that could be done about it. Eastern Europe is prone to food shortages, and there have been many, many famines there over the centuries. It was not a desirable situation, but the only way that they could have been saved is if the Soviet government were composed of wizards, capable of conjuring large amounts of relief food. Also, Stalin didn't actually say that. I can't remember exactly who did, but it wasn't Stalin.
I love the art direction in the posters and artwork, how the majority of it, the focus is to the left, or the west, which is the front they were attacked on in WW2. Very cool :)
Soviet patriotic music has no equal. I admire the idealism and sense of national purpose and pride the Soviets had. Too bad their system ended up being so flawed...
In any case, thank you comrade for putting this up!
@MisanthropicMarxist I think that this form of government has demonstrated time and time again that it simply does not work. While it is a good idea, in practice it has cost 10s of millions of lives in this past century. And I really don't want to hear that those countries weren't actually communists, that's a no true scotsman arguement.
@Jc40k1 Actually. I would say that a no true scotsman argument is a refusal to accept association with someone that you have no meaningful division from, simply because you prefer not to. Maoism, Juche, and whatever Pol Pot thought he was doing were not in line with Marxism, and I should have clarified that that's what I was talking about. I don't deny that many mistakes were made, and that some of those were unforgivable, but they do not reflect on the validity of the theory.
@MisanthropicMarxist Still, with this many failures I think it would be a good time to accept that communism and marxism in general cannot be put into practice without disaster. Milder forms of socialism however...
@Jc40k1 I see where you're coming from, but revisionism (the attempt to recocile Marxism with various other systems, whether economic, religious, or social) was the main reason for the failure of the various Communist nations, at least those that attempted Marxism to begin with. The problem with things like Social-Democracy is that they leave the bougeoisie in control of the means of production and communication, and then hope to beg said bourgeoisie for reforms rather than forcing the matter.
@MisanthropicMarxist I think that makes sense. But my problem is that the party officials tend to become the bourgeois. The only way to minimize the power of the bourgeois is to increase the power of the government. There needs to be a balance.
@Jc40k1 That is a definite problem, and I'm not entirely sure how to fix it. Education programs for the proletariat would help, but then you have the question of who sets the curriculum. But I should say that not all bourgeois are bad, Marx himself was born into a bourgeois family, as was Engels, and Lenin's family were minor aristocrats, so there is some precedent for "good" bourgeoisie. But I do agree that some type of system developed to enable the proletariat to really hold power.
@MisanthropicMarxist Re: Social democracy leaves the bourgeoisie in control. It depends on how you define social democracy. The term is so vague as to leave a lot of scope for speculation, and don't think it is to blame for the collapse of the communist nations. China's turn to capitalism is in no way attributable to a social-democratic trend in that society, and whilst I think Soc.Dem. trends had a sizeable role in the Soviet collapse, it was far from the only factor at play.
@LoveMeLoveMyDog80 You missed my earlier point. I did not blame Social Democracy specifically for the decay of Marxist experiments, but rather revisionism in general. For the purpose, I define Social Democracy as a society in which the essential economic structure of capitalism is retained, but in which the government provides more for its citizenry. While this may sound desirable, the economic requirements of capitalism demand exploitation of the proletariat in order to function.
This song is somehow so deep. It represents courage and pride - a willingness to give everything for the motherland. What the Russians had, and still have, will never be understood by any western people, especially the Americans, people of greed and lies. Europe as we know it wouldn't be here if it weren't for Russia. The Russians stopped Napoleon. They stopped Hitler. They did what no other people could. Why? Just listen to the song.
I think it might have to do with the weather, extreme cold does things to people. scientifically theyre actually less prone to fighting than people in warm climates like say the Middle East but God help you when they do get pissed off...
@MrNobody1111100 Russian winter and greed stopped Napoleon and Hitler. Russians just happened to like burning things behind them when they ran deeper into the motherland.
@Vladislaussy I'm guessing you're another ignorant American imbecile since your first response to someone saying something good about Russia is to call them a communist. Before you get swept up in nationalist stupidity and McCarthyism, you may want to take into consideration the deliberate infection of the populations of other countries with ailments by the United States to observe the effects. Without that country's permission by the way.
@MrNobody1111100 The russians were just as bad if not worse than hitler, hitler killed less people than stalin did. Does the word Katyn ring any bells?
@Jc40k1 Saying the Russians are as bad as hitler is an insane stretch. In Nazi Germany, the people participated in the idea of purging the Jews and their own ethnic superiority in agreement with Hitler. In the case of the Soviet Union, most of the deaths there were the direct result of a psychotic and paranoid leader (Stalin). The Russians as a people responded to the Nazis with a resolve and fortitude that can be described as nothing less than heroic. Stalin not so much. At all.
@Jc40k1 And one more thing to consider, if you count all of the people who died as a result of Hitler's aggression, I'm pretty sure Hitler would have outdone Stalin by a hefty total.
@DarkGreenMenace If Hitler didn't attack stalin, they probably would've been on the same side, they both invaded Poland. None of the countries "liberated" by the soviets after the war fared very well compared to the western half of europe.
@Jc40k1 They did partition Poland together because they both had interests in it, however Soviet xenophobia and Nazi anti-anything that isn't fascist-ism would have barred any attempted relations.
@Jc40k1 As for the "liberated countries," of course they made less progress than the western european countries. 1, they never really were par with western europe in the first place, and 2, by doctrine capitalism is rapid and grossly profitable in bursts, while communism is slow to start and sustainable(in theory). Many eastern bloc countries had farmers who appreciated Soviet intervention because they invested in their agriculture. The bottom line rose a little, while the top line fell greatly.
This brings tears to my eyes when I think of the raw courage that the Soviets had when defending their capital. What loss, such loss that most Americans will never understand...
I am sorry if i still dont beleave You. And everyone can copie and translate a russian text. I do it myself often as my russian isnt the best and i dont got a keyboard for it
@21scuderia yes and hitler didn't kill many germans, russians, poles etc....? I"m not confused but i just don't understand how a slavic guy supports an ideologie that seeks it's destruction...read mein kampf..
what do you think of national-bolchevism, they are not like communist they ressemble more slavic national socialism. by the way, stalin turned a nation of peseants and farmers into a superpower with nukes and a space program. that has got to count...
Damn, I hate russians and red bastards, not only because what they did to my lovely country. I'm from Poland. And you must know, that we were slaves of Russia for more than sixty years. They killed most of our war heroes. For instance: general Emil 'Nil' Fieldorf, commendant from AK, the performer of assasination of Franz Kutschera. He died hanged in prison, accused for 'being the enemy of Poland'. How funny... But, despite all of this, I must say... they have damn good songs.
@21scuderia hahahah you mus be kiddin man. If you think that slavic people couldn't build any civilization you should read more about us. In fact in Mein Kampf Hitler say that slavic people are very weak but he skip Nietzsche's philosophy part where Nietzsche said that germans should learn bravery from slavic people. and oh yea. You said that hitler helped us ? pffffff..... read more books !
@21scuderia i don't mean to ruin your day but hitler wanted to use slavic peoples as slaves, they did with soviet POW's. don't recreate history. the truth was that the nazis were financed by the USA because they didn't like communism so they used hitler to try to crush communism. right after ww2, the cold war...think about it...
@21scuderia molotov and ribentrop were not the ones in charge making decisions you idiot. they failed and a extermination war went on. they were just diplomats. so go read some more cuz i'm not sure you understand
@21scuderia well look at my profil...btw it is spelled "heil" and not "hile"....HEIL. slavic union is good by why claim hitler? hitler wanted slavs dead...nazbol union would be better and more realistic. i'm all for slavic union but claiming hitler isn't very smart. why not Staline, he help the slavs to become very strong. hitler didn't...
@21scuderia By signing Molotov-Ribbentrop pact we helped germany and also ourselves in a way. It was strategic for fuck's sake are you that fucking stupid to not understand the purpose of the pact?
at the end Stalin didn't have trust in any one and had many who were near him executed ... had a heart attack and died alone having no body daring to approach him.
@WESAM400 No he got a stroke and survided but he got one agian and lived for 4 days : Everytime he got in coma agian some commander/general ( I dont know the name) Spitted on him (Stalin was so sick he could not move) Few days later he died :P
>(and army had more experience than any other in the world, most Americans don't even know about how in 10 days russians defeated Japan in Manchuria and that's why america dropped atomic bombs on japs, they feared soviets capture Hokkaido before them), science was one of the best in the world. Today's Russia is a dying country with awful corruption, ruined industry and science and no perspectives, when russians say they love Stalin or Comm they lie, they love Golden age of 50-60s Russia(USSR)
@Danne9000, there was corruption and other shit of course, I just described thoughts of typical russian redneck who never lived under Stalin's reign. +modern Russia is a really fucked up place for an average person. About half of population has a standard of living lower than in most african countries, life is only OK in Moscow, st Petersburg and few other major cities which you can see on TV. Compared to that soviet union doesn't seem that bad for many russians.
I live in Belarus which is former republic of USSR, and my grandparents live in Russia, I myself am russian and I can say that communism is bullshit, or well there have never been any communism in USSR, only socialism. You are misguided, gentlemen. Russians that praise Stalin don't want communism back, they want the Great Russia back when there were little corruption, awesome industrial power and best army in the world (after WWII soviet army had more tanks then rest of the world in summary) >>
Good music, but man, am I glad the communist days are over!

HubertWolfen 6 months ago

Nazi Germany was not funded by the USA, and there is no evidence to support this. Whatever you have learnt at your shady Stormfront forum is bull.
Adonnus100 6 months ago
@21scuderia i don't mean to ruin your day but hitler wanted to use slavic peoples as slaves, they did with soviet POW's. don't recreate history. the truth was that the nazis were financed by the USA because they didn't like communism so they used hitler to try to crush communism. right after ww2, the cold war...think about it...

>(and army had more experience than any other in the world, most Americans don't even know about how in 10 days russians defeated Japan in Manchuria and that's why america dropped atomic bombs on japs, they feared soviets capture Hokkaido before them), science was one of the best in the world. Today's Russia is a dying country with awful corruption, ruined industry and science and no perspectives, when russians say they love Stalin or Comm they lie, they love Golden age of 50-60s Russia(USSR)
warpreacher1 7 months ago 2
@warpreacher1 As if soviet wasn't corrupted at all, and the equality in Soviet was <3.
Danne9000 7 months ago
@Danne9000, there was corruption and other shit of course, I just described thoughts of typical russian redneck who never lived under Stalin's reign. +modern Russia is a really fucked up place for an average person. About half of population has a standard of living lower than in most african countries, life is only OK in Moscow, st Petersburg and few other major cities which you can see on TV. Compared to that soviet union doesn't seem that bad for many russians.
warpreacher1 7 months ago
@warpreacher1 Well going from a bankrupt communist shitpickle-politic to capitalism takes some time... So just give it another 10 years or so.
Danne9000 7 months ago
I live in Belarus which is former republic of USSR, and my grandparents live in Russia, I myself am russian and I can say that communism is bullshit, or well there have never been any communism in USSR, only socialism. You are misguided, gentlemen. Russians that praise Stalin don't want communism back, they want the Great Russia back when there were little corruption, awesome industrial power and best army in the world (after WWII soviet army had more tanks then rest of the world in summary) >>
