This commercial, well maybe not this particular one, is one of my most memorable commercials of the 90s. I wish I had thought about one of these career paths a long time ago after graduating from high school.
Why does she give the impression that she is going to burst into tears at any moment? Oh that's right...her career was in the toilet. And furthermore how can one become a veterinary assistant without actual practical experience with animals?
Yyyyess. This commercial was on ALL the time. I remember her asking us if we wanted to make more money and thinking "that woman doesn't give us a moment to answer! What's her hurry?" As well as "she can't possibly see that scrolling list of careers! Why does she keep looking at them?" I was also nine years old.
P.S. Currently, she's playing Golde in a Children's Theatre production of "Fiddler on the Roof" at Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine.
I remember this commercial played SO often during the breaks of Nick at Night when I'd watch the Patty Duke Show. I got to know it so well I could recite the whole darned commercial word for word. I was in trouble for knowing that commercial by heart and not my times tables!
i wish this had caught the "do you want to make more money?" part ocmpletely. my sister and i used to have most of this commercial memorized! it came on all the time during three's company.
haha, i also had it memorized with my older brother! we used to twist it and make it sound like the Undertaker's voice from WWF. look him up if you don't know what i mean =)
Yeah I haven't seen much from the kindly Miss Struthers lately. What's she up to these days? She also did a voice over for the "Glo Friends Christmas Special" in 1985.She really is a big advocate for kids.
I love Actress Sally Struthers! What a nice person! I remember when she sang, "Just The Way You Are!" to Puppet Goriddle Gorilla on the classic 1980's puppet t.v. show, The Great Space Coaster! She also sang "Carolina In The Morning" with TGSC cast also! And she played her face while singing another song !
This shit would always play during my scooby-do

Unfortunately these degrees are not worth the paper they are printed on. I know this from experience.

I wasn't aware that Struthers was ever involved with a program named "ChildReach".
The ICS commercial started about a year after she got involved with "Christian Children's Fund".

They used to mail you animals to practice on until it leaked out that Michael Vick was supplying the animals.
