I think the movie is fresh air for me I thought all vampires were turning gay and soapy, we finally come back to real Vampires that's good...

Now I think the movie is not bad, true that the story line is interesting, however it misses some spice but I'll give it a good rating 80% just for the sake of watching good old credible vampires....creatures of the dark not sparkling fairies

The significance of this film is completely over the heads of the web cam bloggers that pass for critics on Rotten, the film is not slow, it is noir, the gore is beautiful and impressive, Sam Neil is great though go figure Dafoe is over the top. "Rent it near Halloween"? This isn't even a scary horror film, rent it on earth day and realize the social blood lines this movie taps into

This is the most innovative and creative vampire story to come out since Ann Rice. In a world inundated with worthless crap like "Twilight" poisoning the super natural market. I never liked Rotten Tomatoes, but the review of this movie is prime example of how bad the reviews are. This brilliantly original movie is well acted, has multiple moments of cinematic beauty, and may have saved the vampire genre (along with "Let the Right One In").

I liked this film alot, I wasn't too happy with the editing or the ending, I loved the cast, they were great, especially sam neil who is awesome in every movie he plays. The movie was not scary but that wasn't the point, the point was basically about morality and losing our humanity. With better editing, this movie could of been a masterpiece! 8/10 in my books, and that Placebo trailer song totally rocks!!!

and most people don't understand its concept becasue they think its a horror movie.. people truly are ignorant if they can't see this movie symbolizes our depleting water and oil resources and how everything is fine now but once all that starts to disperse we'll kill each other over the tiny few barrels and gallons left..

...but anyways whats up with all these movies lately that draw out some metaphor to real world problems? Avatar was all about SAVING THE EARTH and Daybreakers was all about properly using our resources. lol i just find it funny.

I liked it a lot. It stuck to the true stuff of vampires like wooden stakes thru the heart and not able to go out into the sunlight unlike that stupid garbage twilight with sparkling super fast vampires. I also thought there were relle creepy parts. At one point I almost pissed myself.

i LOVED this movie! i could watch it over and over again... well actually, it is pretty gory XP, the kinda gory that makes you wanna put the popcorn, and twizzlers down, and u may think of being vegetarian for like 5 mins. but u get over it. this move was really good. nuff said.

i really enjoyed this movie. the special effects were not amazing, but the plot and the characters were outstanding. I thought the amount of gore was a little much at times, but nothing that couldnt be overlooked

99% of the time, rotten tomatoes has been spot on. unfortunately, this is the best vampire movie i have seen ever.

Saw this movie last night. It was mediocre in every sense of the word. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't BAD it just didn't work up to its full potential, and the plot holes were in abundance.

Perhaps the most irritating thing is, they try and making the vampirism seem like a scientific disorder, however, they keep all the old vampire chicles. Wooden stake, invisible in mirrors, can't go out in sunlight, etc, etc.

@angelmarine1292 yeah, a pretty good idea was rushed and canned because of the vampire craze. the script was on the shelf for like 4 years or something too i think. they shouldve went back and flushed it out more. i thought it was pretty good... but it DEF was lacking for how much potential the premise has. it would make a dope comic series.

The special effects in this movie were terrible. And you know you this in the first 5 minutes of the flick. It was a disappointing movie. With this kind of premise they could have done a ton more to make it better, but sadly they didn't.

The thing that really bugged me about this movie, aside from the crappy acting, was the million and one different ways they came up with how a vampire could be turned back into a human. It got to the point where I didn't care and just wanted everyone to die, be it in vampire or human form.

Also, is there anything more useless than the Tomatometer?
