When a band creates such brilliant music for so many years, the greatness is bound to wear out. This song is a textbook example of that. After Distant early warning this band should have called it quits.
I wish I could get them to play these songs on their next tour: Between Sun & Moon, Cut to the Chase, Jacob's Ladder, Broon's Bane/The Trees/Xanadu, The Analog Kid, and Alien Shore.
@07hottie0...When I saw them in Saratoga on the Time Machine tour his voice was great. Caravan brought the house down and The Camera Eye was flawless to say the least. Better than the album cut if you ask me. Geddy can still put it out there...have faith.
This was nice. I haven't seen them live since....when I was really just a teeny bopper I think. I tried to see them again when I was about 40 but it didn't work out.
@LightningCat315 i saw them for the time machine tour in Toronto. He couldn't even sing BU2B or Caravan correctly. Hes put too much on his voice over the years and it cant take it anymore
@07hottie0 Hmm, bad performance then. I've seen some performances, he can still sing some stuff pretty well. But "Clockwork Angels" may be their last CD, or a CD after it perhaps but...Yes its true, I've seen their good performances, he can sing still.
@07hottie0 If I could find the video again yes...If I find it I'll give you a heads up. (It wasn't a video on a popular channel so thats why it could take a bit to find it again.)
Its great that so many people are such giant fans that they argue about which Rush songs are the best and which ones are their personal favorites. I'm getting a bit more back into them lately. I always loved them...I'm not that clear on what happened; I checked out more other bands but always kept in my heart and in the back of my mind...but I did that way longer than I had realized and it turned out that...I still love their works but I didn't discover their 1993 album until 2003..LOL
@MiriamSPia Yes, I've been playing catch up too. kicking myself for not having been paying closer attention to their music over the years. now I'm convinced there's no better band anywhere.
aww. come on...has anybody heard Working Man? Xanadu? Closer to the Heart? hey...try one from the first album.(Here Again)...this is good but they have done a lot better
One of my favorite Rush songs ever. So underrated.
Actually, Roll the Bones, Counterparts, and Test for Echo are three of my favorite Rush albums. I don't know why so many 'fans' claim to dislike such wide swaths of this amazing band's discography.
This band have forgotten gems in their back catalogue that would be heavy-airplay classics if someone else had recorded them. Fantastic. Next time they tour I'll move heaven and earth (and sun and moon) to catch them.
I was so lucky to this tour in Selma (San Antonio), TX and it was AMAZING!!! It was my first Rush show and I saw them play this song and it was awesome. I never forgot it!
Ok get your fucking facts straight next time before you speak. His Sabian Paragons were created and released in 2004, so I say again....this was the last tour with his Zildjians. Just watch the fuckin rush in rio dvd you douchebag.
god this is one of those amazing rush songs noone listens to like we hold on on snakes n arrows. amazing songs but get no cred, i love em!!!! had this song in my head for the last week!!
What exactly is the meaning of this song? I hear it and think of the sun rising on a country that has waited more than a decade to feel its light and heat.
When I saw them bust this out at Starplex in Dallas on this tour, I almost shit my pants. "Counterparts" has some big time gems on it. This band has SO many absolute masterpieces, it's mindblowing. See you front row in Dallas April 25th!!!! :)
this is vapor trails era because of the dryers behind geddy. after that he had the rotating food dispenser with one dryer and now the chicken rotisserie. pretty funny eh?
It's "why the SUN", not "why the son?", asking why people pray to the sun, because it was something they couldn't understand, which goes for whatever you pray to for whatever reason, the same as any religion. Take your religious bullshit somewhere else.
I'm so glad they rediscovered this song.. they should play more songs from Counteparts on tour. it was such a BOLD album. also, wanted to point out they all looked really healthy on this tour.
i see, whoo, i can see, alex's point. it's a far point, a cry, but hell, he made his money, comfortable living, why elsa? rrreeeewowr. he can move on and end his career happily. Why this song, Socrates/ because the fans are tripping, and we don't wanna disaster ffs.
It's based on a poem by Pye DuBois, lyricist for Canadian band Max Webster. Now...HE may have been high when he wrote the poem! They played this in Cincinnati...it ruled, of course.
i think the problem with rush's sound at the newer concerts is that alex always uses prs which is too heavy for some of their songs. tho he did use prs on this song i believe
Me too It was awesome I remember Geddy saying,"Now were gonna do a song from our counterparts album that we haven't done in the past tours, I don't know why? here's Between Sun and Moon"

This is one of their best '90s songs IMO...It's not too long, it's got a good melody, it's heavy without being too dense like most of Test For Echo
