But the reason for the conflict in Israel/palestine is split between religious jihad and palestinian nationalism. From a realist perspective, you can't expect a nation to give up all its land to cater to a group that wants to eradicate your people by orders from a god or a group that wants to push all your people out in order to purify the regions ethnicity.

Speaking of recent history, in the early 1900s, a large majority of the land was Arab (both Muslims and Christians) . By that logic america should return all of its land to its native peoples, same with all nations of the western hemisphere. Its unrealistic, just like it is in Israel. You can't expect the majority population to surrender all they've fought to obtain because the minority thinks the land is theirs because of historical ownership.
