It just means that his coat colour is a sandy base with no tawny genes (the brownish colour you see tinting the mane of the first male lion shown in the video). While there are indeed lions that are very close to pure white, you can still be sandy coloured (or even darker!) and qualify as a white lion because you don't have the tawny gene. That's a very simplified version though.
