  • is this guy mormon?

  • Keep going McKay! The foundations of every person are their morals and it's great that you're fighting for yours. Many people are right behind you.

I'll be honest... I've cussed before when intensely frustrated (rare and I know it's not an excuse but we're all human) but I definitely agree that there is no need to cuss frequently/habitually to communicate, express feelings or to be "cool". We all have the potential to be articulate and intelligent. Those who dislike this video are neither.

  • At first I didn't like this guy (freedom of speech and all that) however, I guess it would be nice if we lived in a world where people didn't resort to foul language to express themselves. Keep up the good(if slightly irritating ) work!

  • Sorry to drop the bomb but people simply enjoy to swear. Most people don't go round be racist and swearing in the middle of the street. Stephen fry (national treasure) doesn't see anything wrong with it and neither do I.

But i have to give it to the kid, well done for putting in the effort to try stop bad bad language but I think that you have aimed a little high. i mean look at me, I don't like his ideas but I'm not swearing or anything.

  • The right thing?? really people? You know theres this thing called the bill of rights. It grants FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

  • Just to mention as well, every post on this video is 'upheld for uploader approval' and this is probably why the comments are so nice

  • I have no problem with someone not cussing themselves, just dont be the fun police

  • I'm right with you McKay! It's good that your headstrong about what your doing. And there will be people threatening you when your protesting because that's the sad truth of our world. I think showing weakness in the threats will make you vulnerable, so it's always good to look at the Lord for strength!

  • who even says the word "Cuss"?

I don't think that swearing is a good thing, but saying "Cuss" makes these videos seem like they are aimed at undereducated poor southern people.

  • Don't watch rated R movies then kid.

  • I guess there is no such thing as freedom of speech?????

  • This kid is calling out modern family for Lily, (the toddler), using a BLEEPED swear word...are you serious? He wants ABC to cut the episode.

  • Inspiring? There is something called freedom of speech! The bombing was amazingly stupid and the people should be arrested but really? Freedom of speech was created for some kind of purpose!

  • casteloserROX101 your so right

  • You'll never change the World Mcay. Swearing is here to say. Period.

  • FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

  • What a sad world we live in where peaple try to hurt a kid for trying to promote clean language.

  • @Tolkiennerd

He wants to force others to not say certain things.

  • I don't get why this video has so many dislikes.

  • @CasteloserROX101 ,

it's probably because he mentioned religion. Publicly talking about god is frowned on in society.

  • Good work!!! I wish more people could understand that cussing is not good and not cool. Thank you for taking a stand, I know it can be hard but keep it up.

  • That is brave and inspiring and it's sad that people get mad that he's doing this amazing thing. Go McKay!

  • Comment removed

  • It's a sad day when full grown adults try to bomb a kid for not cussing...

  • why does it bother him? o__O And his mom saying that he needed to either tell them to stop or find some new friends?? What the?? all he needed to do is not curse and then thats it!

  • McKay is the coolest ever! He has an amazing voice & awesome guitar skills!

  • i don't see anything wrong with what hes doing hes sticking up for what he believes in but i agree with andrew there is nothing wrong with swearing sometimes it just comes out and they are only words and words change their meaning all the time in 50 yrs time cat might be the most horrible offensive word and swearing is getting more and more accepted so the words are losing their meanings and new more offensive one are been made up all the time by people who "just want to watch the world burn"

  • What happened to freedom of speech?

  • @loomanchoo But there are times when you abuse your rights and that you know it's not right. just becuse it's legal, doesnt mean we should do it.

  • whats wrong with a good old fashion swear here and there it doesn't hurt anyone so why do you try and stop people?

  • How could you not admire the strength of this young man? He is obviously a young man who understands who he is: a child of God, and that he loves him.

  • "31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out. 32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness."- Proverbs 10:31-32, "The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness."- Proverbs 15:2, and "But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment."- Matthew 12:36. All in King James Version KJV.

  • "But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man."- Matthew 15:18, "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers."- Ephesians 4:29, "A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness."- Proverbs 12:23, and "...for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."- Galatians 6:7b. All in King James Version (KJV)

  • "Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain;"- Exodus 20:7a and read Deuteronomy 5:11a, "He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction."- Proverbs 13:3, "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.”- Proverbs 15:1, "For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."- Matthew 12:37, & “Death and life are in the power of the tongue:”- Proverbs 18:21a. All in King James.

  • Wow- back off the kid. He did something he believes in. Good for him, keep going and don't listen to anyone that tries to put you and your beliefs down. What is wrong with this world?

  • Ephesians 4:29 - "Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you."

  • Freedom of speech . I don't think cussing should be THAT bothersome to this kid. Their just words. Its not killing anyone. As long as its not every word or excessive then i think its fine. death threats is a bit much though...

  • I am very proud of this young man - keep up the good work.

  • While I certainly wouldn't send death threats to a kid just because he challenges something as trivial as swearing, I do have a problem with it. These "bad" words are only as bad as society makes them. It seems we have been conditioned to find them offensive, but why? It's true that it does make you seem less intelligent if you use them too often but they really help to get your point across if you're angry. I only use them when I feel it's appropriate but I don't find them offensive at all.

  • WHY is there so much hate towards Mormons? They're just another denomination of Christianity, respect their beliefs. All the Mormons i know are some of the nicest people I've ever met.

  • Wow I am so inspired I wish I could have the courage 2 do tht all I can do is tell kids at school 2 stop but the whole world thts amazing n so r u n yea heavenly father is standing by u right now protecting u n don't give up because of negative ppl u r being watched n loved so never stop because u r what I wish I could be and you should share this on your mission and inspire more people and you will do a great deed of the lords work and you inspired me 2 stand up and now some of my friends want

  • no cussing club? how do you have a club based on not doing something

  • "You can't be fearful at all because you know that Heavenly Father is on your side and he's gonna protect you. I don't care what these people think, I only care what God thinks, and I know if he was happy, then I was doing the right thing." That made my day. This guy is an amazing example to me!

  • I joined the No Cussing Club after reading with great intrigue about McKay Hatch's courage to challenge others to clean up their language. I'm really proud of this fellow!

Also, it has been so shocking to see how much opposition there is to the message of the No Cussing Club! I shake my head in bewilderment, trying to understand why some people resist challenges to elevate their thinking and their speech.

"As a man is in his heart, so is he."

  • DEATH THREATS!! TOO FAR!!

  • Thanks for your example. Good job. I'm so glad to know that there are other great Mormon teens around.

  • Good job kid!

  • Breaking the habit can be hard but anything is possible with will power. The words you say literally say a lot about you. If we choose modest kind loving language we will help others around us feel cared about and respected!

  • Ill admit I sometimes laugh at cussing on films tv shows etc,but when the swear like everey second word I hate t, I dont cuss but all my friends do, and they know Im against it

  • For real, this is the right move!

Unless you have more rude friends

Cussing just isn't right -- challenge them!!!

Kids will learn, you're a real example!

  • I love this. We need people with this kind of strength to be such a good example to us all.

  • this is incredible! way to go man, i'm so impressed! and i know the feeling, middle school, when people started cussing was really hard for me too.

  • Just think though. if you wouldnt cuss at a job interview your whole life is an interview, with god. so you wouldnt cuss infront of your person that is interviewing you, you shouldnt do it infront of god.

  • You are my hero.

  • I cuss but I'm still impressed.

  • aww keep doing the right thing!!!

  • I don't agree with cussing, it really shows the ignorance in its incessant usage, or slavery to impulse as well as lack of articulate self-expression. I'm 13 and Catholic, I do agree that F-bombs and filthy suggestive words are terrible and I don't use them at all. But I do view that lesser words like crap or suck are better, but I use them sparingly and don't kill myself if they slip out. I like control over my mouth. You don't need to cuss to be cool, I like Mormons and I like this kid too=)

  • keep doing what your doing kid. your gonna go far.

  • Ejemplo de los Creyentes =)

  • CONT from last comment. It's amazing to me that this kid has gotten thousands of death threats, and has been cussed out hundreds of times (both online and in person). He's not trying to take away anyones freedom of speech; he's just trying to show the world that words can make difference - why kill him for that? And words do make a difference.

  • Many countries have freedom speech, which is amazing and should NOT be taken away! But, just because you have the right to do or say something doesn't mean that it's always good. Words don't have a physical affect on the world, but they do have an affect. "The pen is mightier than the sword" and anyone who denies that, denies the power of the Constitution of the US, the Holy Bible, the Quoran, the words of Aristotle, Shakespeare, Thomas Paine, Machiavelli, Gandhi, Moses, Marx, Chaucer, etc (CONT

  • What's wrong with cussing?

  • @CriticalBrainDamage Anyone in the world can choose to say whatever they want. Many countries have freedom speech, which is amazing and should NOT be taken away! The right to say what you want is a beautiful thing. But, just because you have the right to do something doesn't mean that it's always good. Words don't have a physical affect on the world around us, but they do have an affect. "The pen is mightier than the sword

  • @CriticalBrainDamage What do you think? It's rude and improper. How do you like it when someone comes up to you and insults every fiber in you being. You don't have to follow the club, nor do you have to do what they say. They have the freedom to speech as well as you do. At a job interview would you swear during the interview or would you do your best to impress your employer. Think about it...

  • why is "cussing" bad ?

  • @AverageJ0emusic cuss words are made to be offensive,, and also sometimes to do with the meanings of them

  • What a great kid, someone to look up to. I'm glad I decided to watch this all the way through.

  • Impressive.

  • This is a very nice message. Being a teen myself, I know that cussing is a huge problem especially among teens. Thanks for sharing this. What a righteous young man.
