Actually, if you watch speedruns of this level, that platform is used right at the beginning to skip a huge portion of the level. From that platform, you can run along the wall and jump through the fallen pillar (the developers didn't put a boundary on the backside of it) in order to climb up the ladder that's normally used much later. There are no cheats required to perform it. I tried it on my PS2 version, and although it took many tries, I eventually got it to work.

that place IS jumpable, just need to know how to get there besides, no need to jump just find the right spot to head down or go form the falls
