Sorry to distract you :^{ it's an oxygen cylinder for an interstitial lung disease. Just checked out the cosplay stuff though and it seems like a cool idea - thanks for the tip. You will be assimilated.
hmmm, Personally I don`t look much to the target, but not becouse I am avoiding looking at it, but becouse I normally look to the torso. I find I can read my oponent movement better that way. But it is not like I am avoiding seing the target.
I know what you are saying - I've also been taught in other styles the wisdom of looking at other targets - but I think that firstly it is vital to develop the mindset of a strong intention so that you are capable of ploughing through the target and secondly, by looking directly at your target, your detailed vision is looking at the impact point whilst your peripheral vision, which is better at observing movement can detect movements from the torso and limbs. I tend to zone in on an eyeball.
good video. I think some students have a hard time with the thoughts of hitting something to cause damage, such they just do it to get it over with. Also some have a hard time visualizing what they are doing which can help in practice.
Madame Zorya, I hope you are feeling better?

What's the deal with the backpack? It's very distracting. Are you trying to look like a cosplay borg?

... you can respond faster to the less detailed input from your peripheral vision.
