The casting directors only want to hear a pop/rock song; no showtunes.

It's best to avoid singing "Only Hope" or anything written by The Beatles, since they're too often performed at auditions.

Oh No...

I am about to go to a Spring Awakening audition in Australia, and I have prepared to sing 'Yesterday' by the beatles in a higher key... is this really going to be a disadvantage? I still have time to change if its really a bad thing... :-s

I don't think that'll be too bad, because that particular song isn't overused, but hits like "Let It Be" and "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" are definitely best to avoid singing (although they're great songs).

Chookas at your audition. Please tell me how it goes. Remember that people are usually not called back instantaneously. It took up to 2 months for me to receive a callback.
