One more thing : If you listen right, there is a lot of use of the progression in fifths. It's quite simple to improvise on that. Also, a great part of his melody is based on the broken chords. And some notes in the relatives chords. Very good made. Everyone can do that, but it is really difficult to make it sound so deep and clear. Encore Bravo Kyle, tu iras très loin ! The art of improvisation is based on melodics, harmonics and rythmics knowledges. A great part is sensitive, the other one is extremely "calculated"; you have to think "what scales comes after, what chord, what note, what rythms..." to make something "cohérent". But, you know, at the moment "you know it", it comes by itself. Kyle is a great artist. try to studie his improvisations : it's quite simple. Just because you can't do the same, you think it's impossible. So human, but absurd :) Bye

for people who dont think this is an improv, at 3:50-4:02 the left hand is going up and down in a scale-like fashion, yet if you look at his sheet music there you dont see continuous notes going down and up like a ascending and descending scale would. Also from our view it would most likely be meshed together fuzzy line going down and up.

Alright I hate reviving old comments, but I feel the need to do it here. First off, it's not a song. Second, improvising on a piano is a technique that people have to work on, just like composition and sight reading. Therefore, you can obviously improve at it, and as seen here, make it seem like it was composed beforehand, when in reality there was a simple idea behind it that was followed on the spot.

Please explain what makes this a composition, rather than an improv.
