Also, you do not have to write the Bible to be able to interpret it. Scriptures say that He gave to us preachers and teachers and prophets. If we were not meant to interpret books that we didn't write, our understanding would be unfruitful and we would be illiterate. (I know I had a lot to say...)

In other words, if you are a "Christian", you live and follow the teachings of Christ. Yes, unfortunately, they did misuse Christianity back in the slave day, and they misuse it today. That has never changed. But I don't consider it to be the "white man's" religion, because I know and work hard to live the true meaning of Christianity.

Are you serious?? The song is talking about having a BLACK soul that is STAINED with sin....dipping the BLACK soul into Jesus' RED BLOOD cleansed it (wiped the slate clean) and made it WHITE as snow. Meaning God forgave the sin and made the heart pure again.

The fact of the matter is that if you knew anything AT ALL about African-American history you would know that Christianity was given to the African slaves (who by the way had their own religions) in this country by racist white slaveowners as a means of keeping them subdued, from rising up--in other words subservient.

It was a way of making them believe that the more meek and mild they behaved in this life (the more Uncle "tomming" they did/were forced to do), the more they would be liberated, rewarded and saved by this loving white Jesus in the afterlife. Don't be so naive to think that words like "dark" and "black" don't have any connection with racial classifications in this society and others around the world.

My intention is not to argue with you or anybody else for that matter (because u and they alike are entitled to your opinions-- no matter how naive. Besides I have B.A.'s in English Lit. and African-American Studies,I'm an African-American( and therefore a decendant of African slaves) not to mention I was raised in a Christian household and saw all the hypocrisy in my own religion growing up.

a person cannot lose their salvation. Jesus died for us once-he does not take back his gift to us when we disappoint him. We must ask for forgivness to restore our fellowship with him. If a person continually sins without conscience and the Holy Spirit never speaks to them than they are probably not saved anyway. Only God knows.

This awesome. Does anyone know the gospel choir who sang at McDonalds' gospel fest? The choir wore purple and white and they sang "Blessed be the rock." I can't remember the name of the choir. It was in the 80's or early nineties. I am still trying to get up. They blew me away.
