I remember the sound of the band was huge and rocked-out this little place. Jay's was a classic honky-tonk made of wood, with chicken fighting in the back area. In 1979 I talked with C. Chenier, for a little while, several hours before the show. It was just he and I in the place and he was very friendly and took time to be nice to this 28 year-old stammering fan. I went back to Jay's three years ago and the earth had almost reclaimed it.
I used to go to Jay's Lounge in the early 70's. OMG WHAT A FANTASTIC AND FUN PLACE IT WAS..... wasn't fond of the cock fighting events going on in the back , though.........but jays lounge as a music venue ROCKED!!!!!!!!!
Awh man! Thank you for posting this! I really enjoyed seeing pics of when the boys were young. Yeh,,,they were SO cute! Brought bk a lotta memories. And as for Daddy,,,he was too cute! lol You can see he was in his glory! Makes me proud to hear stories of people who been there and done that at Jay's in Cankton. So many married people have met there! lol

I wonder if you have Jay Stutes Midnight Blues with Shorty LeBlanc on accordion?
Or Nathan Abshires Popcorn Blues.
Not waltzy Cajun, good R & B numbers
