Actually that's the shield from Quest for Glory 4: Shadows of Darkness. If you remember you lose all of your equipment in that game right in the beginning. You gain the dead paladin's sword by killing the wraith. When you talk about the sword you gain the magical shield. So in reality... you sold a dead man's shield.
