i work at a DT in buffalo. it's a shit hole, literally. before christmas a woman actually pooped on the floor in aisle one. Store managers make, i think around $11 dollars an hour. and Assistant managers i think $10. they treat their employees like crap. everywhere else gives their employees 15 minute breaks, and DT employees get 10, even in NY where apparently the legal minimum break length is 15 minutes. also, our DM wanted to discontinue the use of dimes. and corporate LET him. dont work here

THE CUSTOMERS ARE DUMB AS FUCK. I understand that a few of them lack money financially, thats no excuse to being ignorant. They come in the store yelling. Kid's go to the toy area and spray silly string customers knock down things, and dont even try to pick them up.

AND WHAT REALLY PISSES ME OFF is when they TRY TO MAKE THE ITEMS THERE. This isn't wal-mart. We dont have everything. Then when we sell out of things they say "YOU JUST HAD IT 2 DAYS AGO! CAN YOU LOOK IN THE BACK AND MAKE SURE !!"

@TripleJJJay We got a lady who SCREAMS at us if we're out of whatever she wants. I make my co workers send her to me cuz I get a kick out of it. One cashier recently got struck by a customer who tried to help em' w/ the credit card machine, a war broke out that day. If i'm working on the bottom shelf, some customers purpously run over your fingers w/ the cart, or will step on your hand, and then tell you, THIS SHOULD OF BEEN DONE BEFORE I CAME TO SHOP. We got real asshole ppl.

I own a dollar store and just reciently just opened. I have so many customers tell me they found something at the dollar tree that is fifty miles away........Okay...Im not them......so drive that far. Now.........its nice to know after all these comments that they are not as great as the customers say they are. Dollar tree must treat their employees pretty bad. i work there. the customers we get are a trip. i have been asked do we have a layaway? Do you sell jumper cables? My favorite all day long is how much is this? Christmas shoppers are always a treat. I keep going back for the laughs.

I worked for DT for 3 years. Anyone who can honestly say they "enjoy this job" are just corporate tools. Those are the people who will bust their hump for this company and get nothing from them in return. They are the typical corporate vacuum, they will suck you dry of all your energy.

I can totally agree with many of the comments here about dollartree I work there as an assistant manger let metellyou they treat allof us like shit with little hours to give workers and alot of tasks to do everyday and rude customers who dont feel like waiting for more than two minutes in line working there can definitely be a test of wills.And oh yeah the pay also really sucks its barely enough to live by .ALL THIS COMPANY CARES ABOUT IS MONEY!!!And not about its workers .

if you dont like working for DT then leave. The last thing we need is an assistant manager in our company that doesnt care about it. The pay is low because it is considered an entry level job. You take it as high up as you want then look for a new job with higher pay that matches your current position...eg. store manager, District manager and so on.

Sure you can get great buys at Dollar Tree, but believe me it's solely at the cost of cheap SLAVE LABOR....I worked for DT as a Store Manager, I know first hand how poorly the employees are treated. You can not run a store effectively with 8% labor! It's amazing how greedy the company has become.

I worked at DT for close to 2 years... there's MAYBE 1 store in each district (over a dozen per) that isn't run like a slave labor camp. There's DOZENS of lawsuits against DT at any given time, I don't get how they turn profit each year.

Au contraire, sir. There are actually many things in that store made elsewhere in the world, and a good number of them being made in the USA. I'll show you in video form if you need proof.

And, just like every other store, our products are tested against "toxic plastic" and we recall and pull things just like other stores as well (mostly for legal reasons). But you go on believing what you believe, because, obviously, you are too rich to lower yourself to shopping in a Dollar Tree.

Apology accepted. I am a semi-moron for defending 99 Cents Only Stores. I think they all get supplies from the same sources. If the state you live in has a film commission, get on their list as a production assistant for movie & TV productions. A few temp jobs($10-12.50/hr) can lead to some long-term work. Hey $12.50/hr to pass out donuts & lattes to the crew ain't bad.

I truly love the Dollar Tree. I've been shopping there with my family at least since 1993 and intend to shop there for the rest of my life! They have nearly everything a person needs from food supplies to clothes and socks. I decorated my entire bedroom on things mostly from the Tree and it is pretty and cozy! It's truly a great store.

Yeah, I've been working at one for about a year now. It's no walk in the park, since you get some customers that generally don't like you and the actual job itself can get a little tedious, but it's not the hardest job in the world. Not to mention the actual corporation absolutely loves to penny-pinch every penny available. I liked this video though.

I used to work at Dollar Tree and got fired because the store manager was stealing money and merchandise. The manager knew I knew and made working there a nightmare. When the district manager came to talk to me about my "bad behavior" I told her it was shit the store manager had said and that she'd been stealing. Basically Dollar Tree doesnt care about store theft. The manager is still working at Dollar Tree too.
