@murallesdominic2: You know, I'm good for a typo here and there, please watch the rest of my videos and I'm CERTAIN you'll find a few more. I don't understand how some people can watch, and I assume enjoy a 5-6 minute video that took hours to make and then comment on an unintentional typo, really? feel better now?
Okay, so I'am moving to Augusta, mid September, and I was wonder what is the city like.. Oh, and what about Hertiage Apartments.. Please inform me ASAP!
@MrMarkingston Yes, of course there is! how else do all the bluebloods who play Augusta National come and go? :) For the record it's a bit outside the city, south of I-520 off GA-56.
I rewatched your video, and I laughed really hard when I finally noticed that Wendy's somehow put a sign across the street from where a Wendy's actually was at 1:31! That just seems kinda tacky to me, since the Wendy's sign on the side is on is more than visible enough.
Then again, I used to think it was a weird practice for Waffle House to build 2 locations off of one exit, and put one on each side of the expressway. Perhaps some locations get so busy, they warrant another one near it?
Liked your clip of Ga. 28 in Augusta. At the beginning, it looks like any exit off any Georgia interstate with the gas stations and restaurants, but it changes. It looks like Riverdale, south of Atlanta the first few miles and even like Savannah with the expressway the next few miles. A sharp contrast to what I see on Interstate 20 in Augusta. The downtown looks nice.
Cool video. I don't think I've ever gone to Augusta interestingly, despite that I've driven through other GA cities at least 1-2 times. Probably I'll go there one day, since I'd like to see The Masters at least once. (and IIRC, a family relative still gets annual tickets)
Really enjoyed seeing things like the Calhoun Expwy, the downtown area(very nice! moreso than I imagined), and the old US 1/78 viaduct on the SC side. At 4:25, is that a street that had a railroad track running in the middle?
@Freewayjim I was guessing that track probably wasn't in use anymore. If it was somehow still in use, it would be very interesting, since so few cities still have active 'street-running' for trains anymore.
@Freewayjim The track you saw is still used. I've had to wait for that train at least 3 times in the last year, and I don't even go downtown very often. It acutally crosses over the Savannah River.
Nice vid :) What i noticed was that almost no-one has the lights on their cars on in the US. Over here in Europe 95% always has their lights on, even during the day, because it always makes you more visible to other people on the road, for instance when you go through a small tunnel, when there's rain or a little bit of fog, and so on. Just sorta noticed that :)
@Intrepidity Adding on to what Jim said, certain roads have mandatory headlight laws posted, like certain high-speed road with two lanes (US 113 in Maryland, and MD 90 [which is a two-lane freeway] ), and the Pennsylvania Turnpike has headlight requirements as well (at least between Breezewood and Pittsburgh... only section I've been on).
@bokkey45 I bet Jim filmed Savannah, as well as Charleston, SC, Columbia, SC, and Jacksonville, FL that weekend as well, so he may be editing a bunch of footage. :)
Jim! Great video, my man!!! Whenever you go on extended hiatus I get a little depressed lol.. Your videos are so awesome that I wish you could do one everyday.. But I will deal with every few weeks :)
I visited Aiken, SC last year. I was very fortunate to watch "Wheel of Fortune" during a hotel stay, watching it on channel 12 (WRDW-TV, CBS in Augusta). Good video!
Nice video. For some reason I thought Augusta had a bigger skyline than that. That said, it looks like a pretty nice small-ish city. I like that expressway into downtown too.
Nice video and awesome music! Hamilton, OH's "Main Street" on the east side of the Great Miami River is High Street. Also, at the end, you put "Produced By FreewayJim". Did your son come or not?
@FreewayAndrew It's not hard at all, getting the camera set right is the biggest challenge (I find a level parking lot or space for this) but once it's set all I have to to is reach over to turn it on and press/stop the record button...I have a remote so I could use that if I wanted to, but just as easy to reach over and press the buttons. I'm also usually photographing the routes I film so it's multi-tasking to the max :)
@Freewayjim Thanks, I'll have that in mind for my future videos. I wonder if you mounted the camera, with the left/right tripod legs outside the middle part, where you put the car in Drive, Reverse, Low-Gear, 2nd Gear, Park, etc., with the middle leg down to that part of the front car.
@FreewayAndrew - All my tripod legs are on the passenger side floorboard, I have it just right wether anyone is with me or if I'm filming solo, If you have the right kind of tripod this works perfectly.
Nice Video and Love that version of Summer Breeze...That song was so good it has been sampled numerous times by many Genres of music...
I love the wide streets of the old south, I'd wish they bring those back especially here in Atlanta instead of Jamming up High Rise Condo's with little or no breathing room...
@Tomahawkin17 most of Atlanta's streets were never really like that though - Atl was a railroad outpost when Savannah and Augusta were booming. Though Marietta St in downtown kinda reminds me of Broad, without the trees.
Not sure about this comment though - yes there are lots of skyscrapers in CBDs, but what about the other 129 sq mi in Atlanta, most of which make up one of the lowest density cities in America? Atlanta has more breathing room than most cities, and more than most people realize.
Fairburn's got a Broad Street (U.S. 29), and Athens has one (U.S. 78 Business). Those are the other two Georgia cities that I know of that have one. Monroe might have one as well.
so its augusta GA and then north augusta SC? thats cool! interesting to see! omarigolds hit it dead on...its "super" love these vids! Georgia looks so pretty! i can see myself there!
Every detail of your timing to the music is delightful - even makes the "suburban wasteland potion of the drive relaxing - when your drive gets downtown, the subtle but clever timing of your turns is wonderful - super, super, super
Tight work. Nice mellow music good job.
