Hey everyone there is a new update on these rules..Games Workshop said it was a leaked book but it was an early trail version so some of the rules are right. The rules that are for sure not in are the turn phases and the evasive rule, which is GREAT!
Also, a troop holding it at the end of the game is another 6 points, which is a massive swing in points for each squad. Only another troop can contest this! That is equal to a full game of an elite sitting on it.
There is nothing in the rules saying you can contest at all. Only that units can score. As it reads currently, if you have your troops on it, you get it, there is no contesting.
@PowerRang3r "In missions that use scoring units, a player gets three victory points for an objective that is held by a scoring unit (and six at the end of the game)." AND "If a unit is within 3” of an objective marker, it holds the objective for this turn and the controlling player immediately receives 1 victory
point for it." You can effectively contest with another troop to negate the 3, but an HQ/elite/HS/Fast, you will only negate 1 point...not contesting any longer!
@PowerRang3r Also the ability to hold with vehicles is also gone. On top of this, current armies are very, very light on troops. I think that if this goes in you will see 3-5 troop choices on the field to hold your objectives and to "contest" theirs. If you don't have the scoring units you will get beaten. They are bringing troops back as an important thing...this is nice! Remember, troop vs. troop (contest), troop vs. anything else (-1 point) + victory points based on the cost of a squad.
GW has the rights to the Hobbit, for making the game. They have access to characters and monsters that will be in the movie. Their seal on what information is leaked is tighter than you think. All of these "leaked rules" are just speculations, GW would not allow their next set of rules to flow freely.
You have just as good a chance of guessing the next army that GW will release for 40k.
@onapoda I disagree I think it would be very easy for this to get out....Imagine you were able to play test the new rules at a local games workshop. If 1 person they let try out the rules posted some them, they could be telling the truth but we would never know.
@rokstoned I'm just going off of what I have heard from various sources, most notably beasts of war. If my memory has not failed me, I believe they said that they were told "It is not from us" by gamesworkshop, now wither or not that is just gamesworkshop trying to hide the fact they have got a leak, I can not say.
@rokstoned I agree that it is, currently, just hearsay. Which is why I used the phrasing as "From what I understand", and not just stating "This is not 6th edition, gamesworkshop has said so". I do apologize if my wording sounded like I was. As I have no first-hand knowledge regarding this I can not say wither it is really a leaked copy of 6th edition, or just a fan made rulebook.
You don't get the charge-move in addition to normal movement. Charging is just one of the movement options (or actions) and each unit can perform one move action during the movement phase.
This means that jump infantry (with movement 9) can perform one of the following movements:
-turn
-combat move 9''
-run 18''
-charge 18''
-engage 9''
in short: the charge range is the same; running isn't unreliable anymore; the normal movement for jump packs is decreased by 3''
@Cromwell523 Ya its a lot like fantasy but the bad thing is it will make people more defensive because they wont want to screw up on charging and be left vulnerable like in fantasy.
Beast of War have a 50 minute video on the rumored 6th edition rules. Unfortunately, they do rant a lot so it takes a while for them to explain what is happening.
But so far, it seems like Games Workshop is turning 40k into Fantasy, which I don't mind if they clearly explain how it's going to work.
But melee focused armies are going to have a hay day with this one... I can already see it now at tournaments... everyong dusting off their Tyranids and Jump Infantry and using them in a major list.
Dear Emperor on his mighty throne I hope most of this is wrong. Personally I think switching the assault phase early is way to much of a step because you can't shoot into engaged squads and seeing as how most of this is going to be bias for close combat armies It's going to be a nightmare trying to find use for Defilers and Psycannons. And the WS rule going to 2+? That's solely an honor for Primarchs and Kharn alone! Maybe they could have more heros have 2+ hits but seriously, this sucks!
@TheFoilGuy I recently heard your allowed to shoot into the squad your enganded with, which makes sense because a fire warrior should be able to shoot their gun and not throw it on the ground and use their wimpy fists lol
@TheFoilGuy i do think that the leaked codex was a draft only. however, shooting will be more effective now. units that stand still and massive units like MC and tanks will get hit more often. the way to go now is to use more units to screen the heavy hitters. and you are right that assault units will be very dangerous on turn 2, with their far reach. i do believe that may weapons will FAQs for how much they shoo. think of SM bolters firing 3 shots in rapid fire FTW!
jump packs move 8" i believe, which means they have an assault range of 22". the wound alocation is very good to get rid of those nobs and paladins. now you can use krak grenades to hit monstrous creatures! now you cant instant kill ripper swarms.
objectives do sound a bit stupid, but as with everything thats rumor, we have to see what the real 6th edition looks like.
@huntercd Ya I didn't read anything about the different movement values but I think if they add a bunch of different ones it's going to get confusing.

@akahdrin You can contest for sure because what happens when your unit is also on the objective....common sense.

From what I understand, this isn't 6th edition 40k. At lest that is what gamesworkshop is saying.

@huntercd Jump packs should be able to move the same at least not less than 12 because now in 5th they can move twice as far as normal infantry.
