what was really bad about this level, is the music is fast but the pace you have to take the level is really slow cuz of the darkness and the guessing of where to jump next. so many good frustration memories on this level.

The only Ninja Gaiden game that I have played myself, so far at least. True, the PAL version is called Shadow Warriors II, but still, it's the same game. A few years back, I sat down to play this game once again, despite it having been something like 10 years or more since I last played it... and yet I managed to actually complete it, for the first time ever. And I did feel proud. (Even though I died a TON of times...) Ah, sweet memories.

Doesn't hurt that the soundtrack is awesome, too. :D

I mastered this game. I could get all the way through and only be hit when I wanted to (i.e. stacking up shadows to mass hit Jaquio with fireballs) and at the end when I wanted to get a different spell to fight the last incarnation of the final boss.

this game devastated me as a kid.. It was the only time I've ever seen a game actually print "HARD TO BEAT" right on the front of the box. Unreal.

But when you were finally able to get to the level and hear this particular music...made your heart beat with every jump, every star, every new enemy. I miss those days very much.

I've finished Lament of Innocence some years ago, and just didn't have the impression of a Castlevania game while playing... maybe it's just me...
