  • You know what is the problem with Iron Maiden? This would be their best song if only their others songs weren`t also the best.

  • 2 idiots disliked

  • TUNISINI DI MERDA MORIRETE TUTTI!!!!!!

  • @DAMAGNINO

    ?

  • No other band gets to you like Maiden, after I heard this for the first time, I just sat and thought. Its completely changed my opinion of humanity and war, it's improved my life and without Maiden, I'd still be blind. No other band, old or new, could ever hope to have the same effect that Maiden does on people, we all owe them a lot more than we realise. UP THE IRONS AND PLEASE PLAY THIS AT SHEFFIELD!

  • whoever disliked this should be sent to paschendale

  • And over we gooooooo....... Eagle :P

  • up the irons!

  • I love the gunshots in the last refrain, that makes it so real. I made my history project about this a few years ago, everyone was deeply impressed. I''ve been to Ypres and walked through the trenches. Believe me it's bone chilling. Makes you think how cruel the human race can be.

  • I love how iron maiden makes songs about historical events.

  • guitar.... guitar.... solo!!!.... guitar.... LOL

  • 2 People should hang on barbed wire

  • Everybody who heard this song shouldn't ever forget Paschendale!

  • 2 people should die in Hell !!!!!!

  • Actually many experts believe that gas wasn't used because each army believed that the other was too well prepared to be too hurt by gas (look at the advertising that gas masks got in Britain).

  • What is the meaning of Paschendale?

  • @ogy91nish Paschendale is village in Belgium (its famous by one of the major WW1 battles)

  • @stonoteniskisampion i saw a picture of it before the battle very peaceful

after it nothing but debris and craters left after the battle

  • @metalrulesforrever well... that shows how humans are greedy. "We dont have that nice place, but he will not have it too"... (i dont blame Germans, but all humans)

  • @ogy91nish paschendale was one of the most famous battle of WW1 its how about how the canadians took paschendale ridge when no won else could.

  • @D011ARS4G011D it was also about how they took it when they didnt need it they gave it back to the germans right when they got it cause it was pretty much a trap for em cause they were sourronded by germans, a waste of alot of canadian and german people

  • @ogy91nish paschendale was the third battle of ypres back in world war one, lasted from 31 july to 6 of november 1917,

  • This song has reincarnation references i didnt notice til just now.

  • Amazing song, and it does represent the brutality of war like "Hero of War" does by Rise Against. On a side note there are no "rules" in war. Sure, there was a convention outlining what you "can and can't" do in a war but really, if one of those rules are stopping you from winning, you aren't going to follow them. Every "rule" people tried to implement in war has failed. Examples would be the English using Longbow Men against knights or the Colonists using Guerrilla Warfare. Just a side note.

  • @Wolvar5

That is not true in ww1 they used gas but because of the the horrers of gas they decided never to use it in ww2 on the battle feild that is.

even though hittler gas the consentration camps.

  • @gally612

Not entirely true. As another post said, it was more because gas was pretty ineffective once gas masks etc had been introduced.

However, Churchill had authorised the use of mustard gas if the German's ever tried to invade, and also in retaliation should the German's ever use it first. Not only that, the Japanese did extensive testing on chemical weapons.

  • @Azog150

that is not always true either. if a trench was hit with gas and a man off duty who was talking with buddies or playing cards etc what if someone was sleeping and didnt get woken up. therefore there was lots of time someone didnt have masks on and if word couldnt get around the trench fast enough then he would be dead.

  • @Azog150 but when chemical gas was once used, it was efective cause nobody had gas mask but canadian soldier used pieces of clothing to cover there afaces but ya after that it was ineffective

  • @Azog150 but the only power to ever use it in combat was the italians but there asses were kicked and they change sides to the allies

  • 0 dislikes just teh way Maiden should be

  • all the lives of mankind & this world we live in was sadly founded by the events & deeds of the First World War,(the War to end all Wars) -The Gears of the "Modern Death Machine" have never stopped since then...

  • damn straight no dislikes! Whoever hates Maiden doesn't deserve to be on the internet:)

  • 1: i hate to say it guys but war sucks all in all but at some times it save more lives than it will end i dont like though unnessecary war 2: UNDER 20K VIEWS WTF!??!?!!??!?!?!!??!?!!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!

  • it's not just guitar you dumbass

  • it's kind of sad.....without war, half of the things we now enjoy we would not half

including that thing, yeah that one thing your enjoying some BA MAIDEN ON!!!!

  • Amazing song, 10/10!

  • I totally agree brother. Yes we know war is not pretty but it is a fact in our human existence. As I write this...there r on average 70-120 wars going on right now as we speak, you just dont hear about them. Without war, the world would be swamped in materialism, self-controlled treehuggers, & Liberalism (if it feels good do it), on a scale we wish not to even think of. I had Uncles die in Vietnam & a cousin die in the 1st Gulf war, Doesnt make me hate my country. Like u said the technological

  • YES!!! no dislikes!!!!!

  • @cherrypoppa92 2 ppl gay enough to screw that up.

  • the lyrics are sad/depressing

  • nice song, but its PASSCHENDAELE not paschendale... btw ;) love it, and thnx for it cuze it helped me with my project :)

  • Wow. 0 evil Germans found this video.

  • When it's says "rush of blood and over we go" I used to think it said "Russian blood and over we go".

  • 0 Dislikes, how it should be with every single maiden, ACDC, Led Zep and many other great bands songs!!!

  • @INTESTINS unfortuanly theres 2 dislikes now, im assuming of course they were accidents!

  • Most epic song if i ever did hear one! And about Canadians!!!

  • @INTESTINS Canadians? Its about the battle in the trenches during The Great War

  • @Kaiserman2388 Yes, a battle fought and won by Canadians.

  • @INTESTINS didnt know they fought in Paschendaele. now i do =)

  • @Kaiserman2388 Yes, a very costly one, but we won it.

  • They make you think that war is necessary, the enemy is evil and god is on your side. So you go and you kill them all. Some of your friends died, but don’t be afraid soldier it wasn’t in vein. Then you come back in your home town and you live your life as normal as you could, with all the nightmares and the remorse that haunt you.

  • And the decades pass, until one day you learn that your comrades died not for their beloved country, not for freedom, not even for the so called democracy that you really never had. They died for some gallons of petrol, for the interests of a multinational corporation, for the profit of a bank.

yeah it was worth fighting for……

  • i live in Paschendale :P

    Heavy metal village!

  • all of you mother fuckers arguing about war on her take that shit elsewhere, and to the REAL people on this video! UP THE IRONS!!!!!!

  • @Rustedhook i spelt it right cuz ive been to passchendale before

  • @xxfeelmybladex and you spelt you worng so don't complain

  • @Glotch1 actually i think the discovery channel knows more than u...

  • I have fallen in love with the music of Iron Maiden all over ago. I have been a fan since Killers came out when I was 12. I have had all the last 4 albums on my shelf with a one time listening when I got them. After revisiting the albums in the last 3 months I am again utterly convinced that the fellas are fricking masters of their trade, write songs like no other band and the addition of the 3rd guitarist was a good move. I am discovering new masterpieces which I am treasuring.

  • iron maiden it the greatest band ever, of all time. the end. period.

  • EAGLE!

  • Masterpiece!

Though "german propaganda maschine"?, everyone used propaganda in that war...

  • i definetely agree with snooddood

  • The ending always makes my eyes water.

  • Lawl Eagle 4:28

  • Even after listening to it for so long it still makes me have goosebumps within the first minute.

  • 10 000 watches now we have to celebrate this :D

  • EPIC

  • i realy like the part at 3:42

  • a real masterpiece...

  • one of my favorite songs

  • i started to cry when the solo started...

  • good cheese too - in paschendale -

  • UP THE IRONS!!!!!!!

  • dis song = hitlers pwnage

  • But this song is about a battle that took place in World War One.

  • yeah but hitler was in the war as a soldier and got shot.

  • @AlistairH517 being a soldier in the WW1 and WW2 means nothing...it wasnt like now that only those who want go to war in afghanistan.....they were forced to fight.........

  • @AlistairH517 ok honestly this song has nothing to do with hitler. its talking about the trench wars of world war 1 not 2 your off by like 20 years give or take some

  • Thanks Aaron1200195! I knew I wasn't going crazy. (Although all my friends think I am.) :)

  • love this song and The longest day

    they own *-*

  • war is completely pointless, with the exception of defense.

  • @SnoodDood lol if u have to defend...this means that u have engaged a country in war.........................so event defend is pointless....although u cant do nothing else in a war but fight for ur country.....

  • @giannis1821a you make absolutely no sense. by defense, you haven't engaged another country. They've engaged you. The only time I condone war is if a country is aggressive enough and powerful enough to jeopardize the safety of your citizens. Then, you're practically forced to attack, in order to end the war.

  • @SnoodDood war is pointless to begin with. Who would want to fight another country over a pipeline and a guy who has been dead for almost 9 years? completly pointless. I mean, if the other country bombed a country like japan did to Pearl Harbor then you would have to fight back, but dropping 2 atomic bombs on nagasaki and hiroshima and desimating both the cities and ending lives to save more, i just dont get it.

  • @jfac1884 with the end of WWII, I don't condone the use of nukes at all. However, you have to consider the big picture. If we had continued with war as usual, would we have ended more lives that way than with the nukes? I highly doubt it. Plus, the creation of nukes has destroyed lives even after Hiroshima and Nagasaki. So, yeah. War is pointless, unless more lives would be destroyed by not fighting back.

  • @SnoodDood

If there wasn't war there wouldn't be songs like Paschendale, Trooper, The day that never comes etc. so it isnt completely pointless

    It inspires people

  • @SnoodDood Correction SOME wars are pointless, think of WW2, or the American revolution. I don't like seeing bodybags anymore than the dead's families but if the the war has a good reason i'll stick to it

  • @Browsey1994 you're right.

  • @Browsey1994 btw when I sdaid ww2 and the revolution i meant they were important WW1 was pointless. it was a case of too many people trying to get on top.

we only got in because of german transgression on our shipping (i.e the lusitania and cargo ships)

  • @SnoodDood so you would have let hitler complete his plans?

  • @livingjustfordying What America did (unless you're a conspiracy theorist) was self defense. Japan was attacking, so we attacked them. HItler would've attacked after he defeated our allies as well.

  • @SnoodDood yeh, but i was thinking about all the civilians and Jews being executed. all war is defence, the reason the brittish were at paschendale (whichever spelling) was to stop the germans crossing the channel.... Iraq is about stopping terrorists on all lands. so was cannot be pointless, but some acts may be.

  • @SnoodDood Well, Vikings were some the most civilized people around.. with a perfect life style.. and they waged war and conquest all the time.

  • @PvtSelkirk Civilized? they sacked saxon villages and had a whole religion based on war and slaughter. their place in my mind is atop a throne of corpses I've got nothing against anyone but vikings were raiders and pirates, until they got home.

  • Comment removed

  • @Browsey1994 Yes civilized.. structure, law and order, traditions, chain of command, etc.. and no they did not have religious beliefs directed war and slaughter. They were violent and malicious when it came to battle, but that's the way it should be.

Charlemagne decapitated 4500 Saxons a day, and were invading viking territories. Raids against the Saxons was just strategy to threaten french/christian defenses - whom were much more barbaric.

  • @SnoodDood for as much as everyone degrades war, no one realizes how important war is. you say war is pointless? it draws the ends to many horrendous things. look at hitler for instance. before WW2 even started, he was killing several Jewish people. if the british didn't get wod of what was happening in germany, WW2 wouldn't have started and all that we know of the Jewish would be gone in a trail of blood. so next time you degrade war, think of the good AND the bad.

  • @BuzzsawProductions01 you obviously didn't read the comment. EXCEPT FOR DEFENSE. that includes your own nation AND your allies. If we let them get overtaken, the japs and germans would've eventually taken us over. Remember, we didn't initially attack. the american Civil War is another example. It also put an end to something horrendous, but the winning side attacked b/c they knew the south would try to conquer them. plus, when war is started for bad reasons, the bad far outweighs the good.

  • @SnoodDood well it appears that you are going to be technical. a nation can't hold up defence forever. eventually, defending the area , a country for that matter, could mean steady depletion of resources. even if you had allies, depending on the enemy, you won't be able to air drop supplies. as for you enemy, they can keep as many troops as the want suppressing the defenders while another large battallion conquers more land and takes more resources. and generally the attackers have allies.

  • @BuzzsawProductions01 ...which is why you go on the offensive. If you go on the offensive for purposes of defending your own country, you are defending yourself. how difficult could this be to understand?

  • @SnoodDood what if i decide to defend this pretty stone i found in your country by nuking the surrounding area?

    justified?

    it was in defense

  • @Emanusmell so stupid. defense of something as mundane as a stone wouldn't be necessary defense, and nuking the surrounding area would be overkill, especially if no one attacked you first.

  • @SnoodDood ugh i hate comments like this...clearly you are wrong....i know where u are coming from and the ideals u are trying to represent but war is required sometimes and even when it isnt...its not useless..its good for business and its good for global expansion

  • @Emanusmell destroying human life for purposes of business and global expansion is the pinnacle of war crime. Well, that and genocide. Every war people are saying wasn't pointless was gotten in by the U.S. ultimately because of defense. I don't understand why this is such a difficult concept.

  • @SnoodDood its difficult because its a lie and hard to believe....defense and freedom and democracy are all guises to get the public in support of the war..its been done throughout history for thousands of years

    read history..learn things

    its cool

  • @Emanusmell it is true that a lot of the stuff we said was for defense (like Iraq) was bull, but I'm saying that if it's actually genuine defense, war can be condoned. But most other reasons for war (with a few exceptions) don't justify the mass destruction of human life.

  • @SnoodDood except that saying you are "defending" can be an easy lie; the best war is no war; the best form of government is no government

  • @metallica04100 that's exactly my philosophy. Except, humanity is too volatile for no war, and too irresponsible, greedy, and evil for no government.

  • @SnoodDood So.........you're saying that our war in Europe during WWII was pointless? Germany never attacked us. Maybe Germany sank one of our ships but we were shipping supplies to England which made our ships a legal target. You're logic is flawed!

  • @MrTooscared apparently you don't understand the deeper point of that war. Personally, I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist, but if you're not then Japan attacked us, so we declared war on the Axis powers. You don't understand the premise of declaring war. when countries are currently allied in conquest, then you can't just declare war on one. It's a "you-mess-with-one-of-us-you-mess-with-all-of-us" concept. And if you'd read my former comments, you'd have already answered your question.

  • @SnoodDood Wow....war is completely worthless? Pray tell you're not lving in North America. America/Canada was founded by war. War is pointless???You really need to review history and reevaluate. I dare not mention the removal of Hilter in Europe.....that blows your point of view out of the water.

  • @MrTooscared The Hitler thing was addressed by me 3 different times in the comments, and I don't feel like defending that point against another one of you blood pigs. And I'm not saying the creating of America was a good thing. I know it was founded upon imperialism, slavery, and general slaughter. Exactly why I don't wear patriotic shirts and stuff. The main point in the comment is "with the exception of self-defense" which runs deeper than someone-attacked-us-so-we-attack-them-back.

  • @SnoodDood in my opinion, you are wrong. and I will tell you why. If there was no war, there would be no real need for technological development. Take for example E-mail. That was created by the military to securely send information to others without any real threat that it would be intercepted. The computer in fact was a technological development funded by the military to store information, (not your little PC, the big old one) why? because of war. not saying it's right, but its not pointless.

  • @DustCloak

dude just because all the technological developement in the past centuries was abused for military purposes, it doesn't mean that there would be no developement with no war, it might have not be so fast, but who says it wouldn't be better that way?

  • the best song by iron maiden!!!!

  • my dad made me read this and it's disturbing still it was a stupid war.

  • no war is ever stupid.

  • All the wars are stupid. Ordinary people gets killed coz the greedy leaders.

  • Comment removed

  • All wars are stupid. With the possible exception of WW2, which wouldnt have been caused without WW1.

  • Because of the assasination of Arch-duke Franz Ferdinand WW 1 and obviously WW2 Started..

  • WW2 started because Hitler managed to easily get his regime in place promising the rights germany had lost in the Versailles treaties. Which was followed by the rest of th
