i think its just a storage bus last seen it over a year ago and had the northern livery just like ur one it is or was on road between hatton and newmachar a road i once took years ago on a nice summers day then i came across it was well impressed despite being worse for wear and since then im sure the blokes got a foreign 1980smaybe early 90s bendy bus
brings back memories of when i was 5 or 6 getting on board this type of bus prob 1980 81 and remember the old 60s 70s jumbos to from early 80s . PS THERE IS A BUS JUST LIKE YOUR ONE THAT SITS IN THE OUTSKIRTS OF NEWMACHAR
Hi Stenchwart. As Richard said, I'm the owner of this bus. It is actually the one from Newmachar. I bought it 3 or 4 years ago and we moved it to Arbroath to start renovating it.I haven't done much to it for a few months, but hoping to do some major work on it before next winter.
@stenchwart As Richard said, I'm the owner of the bus, and it's actually the one you saw in Newmachar. I bought it 3 or 4 years ago and moved it to Arbroath a couple of years ago to work on it. I've managed to obtain many new bits for it including a new front end, exhaust etc. So far, we have the front end off the bus, and now taking panels off. It needs completely repanelled on the lower deck. It's a long term project but we hope to do a lot of work on it the next few months. Mike
I would be almost certain that all the sister vehicles of this bus have been scrapped.
655 herself just runs! She is needing a vast amount of attention and will be a very long project indeed! Depsite this, she is amazingly original and still carries the same coat of paint that it did when you rode on her to school! The platform and some of the stairs are rotten and some of the seats upstairs are soiled with bird droppings. However, most of the seats are orignals, so she is quite a find!
This was my usual school bus back in the mid 70s in Aberdeenshire.Great to see its still on the go. I would imagine the others 651,659 and NWG 896-8 have long since been scrapped.Although I remember seeing KWG 659 sitting at the road side a few years later, when it looked like it was being used as a berry pickers bus.
Hi firenza74...I'm the owner of this bus, and you're quite right about the other buses.. all long gone,sadly..as lec0roh (a friend of mine)says, the bus needs a lot of work, but runs very well indeed
..couple of points tho..it's actually a PD3/3,the PD3 being a stretched PD2, and the second 3 signifies a manual gearbox..the paint it currently carries is the orange training livery, the bus ending up as a driver trainer..good to hear from someone who rode on the bus, as I did in the 60's in Dundee
