How to Teach your Dog to Catch a Frisbee

This video was very helpful. I have a 12 month old Blue Heeler/Boarder Collie Mix and he just got the hang of Frisbee. Right now I can toss it up in the air and he will catch it. He is amazing at jumping. I think I will start to do rollers and other techniques to get him better used to it and catch it every time. Very helpful video, thanks!! Adorable dog!

I LOVE what you covered, here. I got my pup and immediately started smearing food under the rim so he could #1-learn to want it; #2-learn how to pick it up off the ground. In regards to #2, it was a total success; then came the intense procedure of teaching "fetch"- which I did in 2 parts: "get it"/"bring it". (p.s. it was a necessity for him to do it this way; but, I'm so happy b/c I got 2 commands out of it). He's 8mo and liking ball a lil more. Maybe, it's time to start rolling disc again!

I have been watching different videos to train my aussie pup, this is by far the best one i have seen on frisbees. No only is Jesse smart, but you Heather have patients, time, common scense and the love of animals to make this happen. i enjoy watching all of jesse videos....

What age would it be okay for a dog to start catching frisbees? Would playing catch a frisbee with a pup hurt their teeth?

@zDreamerkid Puppies shouldn't be jumping to catch a frisbee until their bones are finished growing (a vet check before starting any sport is advisable as well). With a puppy, you can use a soft frisbee or a rubber frisbee so that it doesn't hurt their teeth. Rollers are best, and you can start off teaching a puppy to take a disc (without the jumping).
