This video was very helpful. I have a 12 month old Blue Heeler/Boarder Collie Mix and he just got the hang of Frisbee. Right now I can toss it up in the air and he will catch it. He is amazing at jumping. I think I will start to do rollers and other techniques to get him better used to it and catch it every time. Very helpful video, thanks!! Adorable dog!
@JustJesse197 You should do some tutorials on some of these tricks! I wish my dogs were this smart! But I love my dogs anyways :) I would like to try teaching my almost 5 year old pup some tricks.
alot of dog trainign videos make no sense cuz the dog is already trained, but even though jesse is trained i can understand CLEARY what we're suppose to do :D good job trainer!
I LOVE what you covered, here. I got my pup and immediately started smearing food under the rim so he could #1-learn to want it; #2-learn how to pick it up off the ground. In regards to #2, it was a total success; then came the intense procedure of teaching "fetch"- which I did in 2 parts: "get it"/"bring it". (p.s. it was a necessity for him to do it this way; but, I'm so happy b/c I got 2 commands out of it). He's 8mo and liking ball a lil more. Maybe, it's time to start rolling disc again!
You did a GREAT job showing the step by step how to get your dog to catch a frisbee! Thank you so much! Everyone else's videos just show off their dog catching it but not teaching how to teach them. Thanks again!
Hey there! I really like your video and your dog! Oh my! he's great! thanks for your video, can you also make a video how to let your dog walk or stand on the.. the hands? sorry if I'm asking something hard.. or maybe impossible, but that really would be great! thanks! :D
Thanks Heather, for the video! I'm watching you and Jesse for ages and I taught so many tricks to my Jack Russsel, Phoebe because of you. It'S so goos seeing you both having so much fun :) Now I try to teach her how to catch a frisbee :)
I have been watching different videos to train my aussie pup, this is by far the best one i have seen on frisbees. No only is Jesse smart, but you Heather have patients, time, common scense and the love of animals to make this happen. i enjoy watching all of jesse videos....
Heather I'm totally impressed. I've got a Mini Jack Russell x Patterdale who's in dire need of some training like that. You've opened a new world to my dog, thank you for that :-)
@zDreamerkid Puppies shouldn't be jumping to catch a frisbee until their bones are finished growing (a vet check before starting any sport is advisable as well). With a puppy, you can use a soft frisbee or a rubber frisbee so that it doesn't hurt their teeth. Rollers are best, and you can start off teaching a puppy to take a disc (without the jumping).
great way for me to see an example of operant conditioning and successive approximations, from psych class-and you've a real go-getter of a pup there.
Fantastic tutorial. Of course I am hoping that we see more tutorials from you soon. You explained it wonderfully and the step by step is easy to follow. Again outstanding.
This tutorial is fantastic :D I have two Jack Russells called Misty and Milo. I have been using this tutorial video has a guide to teaching them to run for a frisbee. They both love it and now can catch it ^^ So thank you.
I love your videos Heather! You did a great job! I'm getting Boston Terrier soon! (her name will be Zoey!) and I know i can bond with her like Jesse and you :)
this is wonderful Heather! I just got a frizbee a few weeks ago,and have been itching to teach Taz how to catch it.So when i heard,if your dog can catch a ball(taz is an expert at that:)he can catch a frizbee, made me jump for joy:) I cant wait to start!
Thanks for the great video Heather. It is so great to see you and Jesse having so much fun. I'm glad you finally did an instructional video. You are so talented and really have a lot to share with everybody. Keep up the good work. :-)
wow! awesome video! it has EVERYTHING ;) five stars ***** without a doubt :D great job making this video . jesse is such a sporty star * keep up the good work ;)
I just love this video. You did an amazing job explaining each step while also encouraging interest and drive in your dog. People will be amazed that a JRT can be such an great disc dog!
wow! i might get a puppy, would you mind if, well, if i do get a puppy you could help me a bit, no how to teach him/her tricks and stuff? it will be the first time i take care of my own puppy. you seem to know alot about dogs, so im just asking if i do ever get a dog, you could help me when i need help ^_^
yay, i watched your other video with jesse catching a frisbee and it let me know that my jack russel could do it too. before i thought he was too small, now you have a video about it... right on time! thx
That looked like so much fun. Those are great tips. One way to keep the practice short is to take only one Frisbee! LOL The ending picture is so cute. Thank you for sharing.
This is a great video Heather! I will most defiantly use these training techniques. My dog Mojo loves frisbee and I think these are great ways to show him how to catch the frisbee and teach him to catch the frisbee while in the air. Thank you!
Heather, this is such an excellent video, from all aspects! I've been wondering how to help my pup learn this as my other dog just took to it naturally! Even if Koani never actually gets into the frisbee catching like it's "usually" done, you've given me so many games and ideas that it will just be fun for us, and that's the whole point, right? Thanks for such an awesome job. And Jesse is soooooo cute!
PAW-SOME tutorial, Heather & Jesse!!! You two are so very talented, and you covered everything in this superb video. You are an excellent trainer; Great work!! Keep 'em comin'!
