Professor Jorgensen, we appreciate you taking the time to show us this...Got a question. When go on "file" and then the page set up to have microsoft word and I go back to the file to check, it will revert back to what it was, even after I have saved it or set it as default. Any ideas on how I can get it to stay that way?
If you don't have a ribbon, you probably don't have a recent version of MS Office. They introduced the ribbon in 2007/8, so 2004 and before won't have it. Are you sure it's MS Office? Evern if there is no ribbon, all features are still available in the regular menu at the top of the screen, you just have to look for them.
Thank you so much! I have been a graduate student for a little over a year and still have minor troubles with formatting along the way, this just cleared those problems up for me! Greatly appreciated!
Could you please tell me if this video has the revised APA 6 style? My university is insisting we use the revised edition. Thank you so much for posting this video.
I assume by "revised" you mean the 2nd printing that fixed all the typos from the first printing. None of the rules changed from the first printing to the second printing; they just had to fix the examples that didn't match up with the rules.
But yes, these are APA 6th edition rules, and I only refer to the second "revised" printing.

I'm a Nursing student at Duke University. I am in my final semester and wish I had found this during my first. The header/footer mystery has finally been solved thanks to your video. I struggle with it each time I begin a new paper and this made it so simple. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Thank you SO much for this! I have been searching everywhere on how to format APA format or Macs and was not helped. The header was the biggest issue I had...thank you again.
@3:42, you say that APA requires "...left, and first line indentation", but you did not choose 'First line' under 'Special:'. Am I missing something or do you correct this later in the video? All I know is I got to the third page, and had to start over b/c my indentions weren't the same as your's. By the way, thank you for the video. ;-)
You're welcome. I didn't actually set the indentation to First Line at that point because I wasn't about to type into a regular paragraph. Headings and labels are centered (APA p. 62, p. 41...), and you don't want to have indentation when centering text.
6th ed. of APA manual specifies on p. 229 you must use Times New Roman 12-pt font throughout your manuscript. Only exception is within figures, where they say it is more aesthetically appealing to use a sans serif font like Arial.

Without seeing it happen, I'm can't be sure why it happens. What are you trying to set in Page Setup that isn't saving?
inherimage 3 weeks ago in playlist Uploaded videos
you think they'd make an APA one-click format option by now

@aCentreThinker
Once you've set this up the first time, you can save it on your computer as "APAtemplate.docx" and use it for every paper you start.

@richhlhs
A Cover Page for submission to a journal? That is a separate document from the actual manuscript.
