I was in Macklin this long weekend for the annual World Bunnock Championship!!! It was my first time and we did pretty good. Anyone can play, sign up for the indoor championship indoors in west edmonton mall February 2011!!
poor coverage of the final game. You left out all the stephanie giggs stuff, and you seem to favour joe gartner, remember this is the same guy that claimed that bunnock was his own. My grandpa wasn't too happy about that
Ah Bunnock, the sport of kings, and it all started in Macklin. Joe Gartner claimed he invented the game, how dare he. And Dave, you left out all Stephanie Giggs stuff in the final. All in all, it's a good Bunnock video. The excitement of the event is captured in the footage. Whatever you do, don't cheer for Lee!
@EpicWheeler Bunnock was invented by russian soldiers while stationed in siberia back in the 1800's. they had many dead horses laying around. to pass the time, they invented bunnock, using the horse ankle bones. no one knows who the original guy with the idea was or when exactly the first game was played. But it sures hell wasn't joe gartner or his dad, because the game was around before either of them were born. Needless to say, many of them soldiers migrated to macklin and area.
@EpicWheeler the individuals primarily responsible for getting bunnock to be as well known as it is are the original members of the World Bunnock Committe. The names are as follows... Rene Ostlund, Johny Feser, Kevin Burningham, Edmund Stang, Frank Doetzel, August Gartner, Alvina Ostlund and Rudy Stang. Joe Gartner isn't anywhere on this list. The simple truth is, now that it is as popular as it is, he wants to cash in on it by claiming he created it

If Joe Gartner didn't create the game who did. Joe Gartner at least got the game to where it is today.
