  • Is this project complete now?

  • @traffety

    Nope, restoration is just starting.

  • I hope nobody ever tries to repaint that magnificent relic.

  • Please note.. This plane was shot down by a Hawker Hurricane of 2 GIAP V-VS SF

flown by S/Lts Pokrovskiy. Wulf-Dietrich Widowitz was with three other Bf-109's of 5./JG5 on an escort mission of a Bf-110 on the eastern front. This occurred on April 04 1942

  • Nice Video!!!

But please note: The WNr is the "3523" and the Stammkennzeichen (you call it radio code) is CS+AJ.

And note that the left hole in the wing was for the MG 17 and the right small for the MG FF or MG FF/M.

    Best regards,

    Falcon

  • THAT IS GREAT!!! I will go check it out soon... i live in Los Angeles so its not too far!

I want to see that battle damage first hand... from what i can see of the damage in the video its definitely a 20mm hit and multiple .30cal hits so it could be any aircraft with a combination there of... the damage near the 20mm hit that 109mechanik was talking about sure looks like shrapnel damage from that hit... i am curious if the pilot might have been wounded as well... great video Brett

  • Another great video. Thanks so much.

  • Interesting. Its like aeronautical archeology.

  • Brett certainly gets around the world.

  • Hello Brett, Thanks for the great video. is the damage on the fuselage side and through the back of the cockpit 'bathtub' splatter form the cannon hit on the wing or later damage? Thanks again!

  • I hope this is restored back to an E-1

  • I want to say that the Russian fighter aircraft i-16P also had two guns and two machinguns on board. And it looks more possible than the P-39 "in Russian hands" at the beginning of the war.

  • such a beautiful aircraft i love WWII props so much!!!!

oh are they going to restore it or leave as be?

i am making plans to go to the USAF Aircraft museum in Dayton, Ohio about 3 hours from where i live.

i just wish i had enough video space on my camera to videotape all the aircraft!!! and not just the favorite ones...
