  • that thing is a monster of an engine. what would you use it for?

  • This one pumped water on a ranch somewhere around Orange, CA. However, many of these engines were used in oilfield service for drilling wells.

  • Interesting comparison! I never thought of it before, but you're right. I definitely see some similarities in the rhythm.

  • I can remember seeing pictures of one of these engines being turned over- with steel rods inserted into the flywheel!

  • Note the description. June 21. This was well before I mucked out the crankcase for the second time and added the external oil filter.

  • As far as I know, there isn't a murphy out there. I do however know of a large Bucyrus-Erie crane with a Murphy in it. Talk about another hell of an engine.

  • @caterpillarnut They make a murphy diesel on a generator. As soon as i get the time i'll upload it (It resides in Wilmington,Ohio)
