I was home on Virginia Avenue, caddy corner from the funeral home and laundromat, 2 houses down from Foodland. Scared the f**** out of me! Oh and there I am at 2:06 on my cell calling my mom saying I think this was a tornado! That red roof came flying up the street from CoGo's a block away. It smashed into the car behind my Talon. My heart still pounds when I see this. And where did I move to? GREENSBURG!
Brings back memories... I watched it cross over from the West End... went up the opposite side of Virginia Ave. from my house.... Our side of the street was slightly damaged... the other side all lost their roofs...
I was at work at Penn Center West (off 376 west of 79). I remember watching the storm come in on the hilltop. As it came through I had made my way down to building 1. I remember when it went through all hell broke loose. I never did find out if it was the Mt Washington tornado before it got to Mt Washington (or even a tornado at all). But it blew a porta-potty about 400 yards off the hill and exploded it in the parking lot.. Sh*t everywhere.
my sister was in that storm and my dad tried to save the couch, ant then he was like "This couch is dead. Cmon Caiti!" and they ran into the basemant with my dog, Casper.
we still have the newspaper article with my dad in the picture up on the ladder putting a tarp over the hole in my sister's nursery. had we been home, and my sister laing in her crib, she woulda been dead. there may not have been ne "confirmed" tornadoes.. but many, MANY macrobursts that were just as bad if not worse than an f-0+... great footage btw. brings back mems. btw can ne1 confirm whether or not this was the same system that destroyed the whip at kennywood?? i seem to recall some1 died t
i remember i was not even a half mile down the street at what was then shop n save in ingomar, with my mom, the power all the sudden went out. we looked outside (which wasn't much brighter) and watched the trees accross the street bend, then suddenly REALLY bend, followed by flying debris for a minute or 2, then it stopped as fast as it came. we went to go home, but all streets leading to my house were blocked by fallen trees and debris.
wow i will never forget this either... my house in mccandless near franklin park was smacked by a macroburst.. which some the footage on here may have actually been from... not an actually tornado. literally took down 6 pines in the patch of woods next to my house and 2 maples in my yard... 1 pine knocked a 4'x4' thick brick column off my front porch. 1 went thru my house where my sister's nursery was. the tree in the backyard destroyed my jungle-gym. disaster restoration was there 4 mnths after
I don't remember this cause I'm only 13 but there was another tornado last year at Mt. Washington and I dont live to far from there and I was scared!!
OMG there's my apartment and my black Eagle Talon at 2:08! That red roof smacked the car behind mine. Wow. I was home when this happened. I grew up in Ohio where tornadoes were common and I was always terrified of them so when I moved here, everyone told me they couldn't happen b/c of the hills. So on this day I just blasted the radio until the power went out and the house shook. All I could hear was wind and glass smashing. Wow. Who'd of thought my place would be in a video on You Tube!
This is a great video! I just moved out of the 3rd floor above the washing well maybe a year before this. You can see the whole back side was ripped off so that was good timing. This is a great video, its so cool to see it all again. I have pics but the video is way better. Thanks for sharing!
I remember this day. I was chasing that day. After missing the Charleston WV Storm I headed to the PA WV i-79 state line only missing the pittsburgh storm. Thats the luck of Storm Chasing. But i did the the Pittsburgh storm 100 miles south. Hugh anvil by 6PM. Man did i do a lot of driving that day.
is there a clip on here of the guy being interviewed calling it a "funnel cake"?
