Garrulous. Ever heard of recidivism? Why do these people with all of their statistics never mention that the prisons are an INDUSTRY? Look, the jails are crowded. I would rather have a halfway house up the street than ANY violent criminal lurking around my neighborhood..Secondly I have known people hooked on meth and they are pathetic folks who need help. As usual, the method of playing on (quickly eroding) middle class "fears" is supposed to trigger an immediate vote. People are smarter now!
Also she reffered to college students drinking all night and partying. Key word is "college students" not gang members. Do you really want to send part of the our succeeding future straight to jail/prison with no chance to learn from their mistakes. Even top colleges party a lot. It's just the modern day of young students having fun. Drug users don't have an intent to hurt people like murderers and rapist do. Vote YES on Prop 5.
This video is misleading and inaccurate. UCLA did not call prop 36 a failure. That was not an accurate statement, therfore, can not believe all of her testimony. It is not true that if an alleged suspect claims he is a drug addict he will automatically get out of jail. There has to be evidence of a drug addiction.
Important correction: The speaker says UCLA did a study on Prop 36 and "said it's a failure." THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INCORRECT.
My name is Darren Urada. I am in charge of UCLA's evaluation of Prop 36. UCLA has NEVER called Prop 36 a failure. Prop 36 isn't perfect, but UCLA's reports include positive findings, including a finding that Prop 36 saved taxpayers millions of dollars. Those interested can find the reports online to get the full story. Just Google UCLA PROP36 and click the first link.
