  • I think that Kathryn Bigelow is going to win it :)

  • I think Cameron loses for two reasons:

    1. He's not well-liked

    2. This clip nails it: - no female director ever won and chances don't come along very often

  • the only reason hurt locker got all the awards is a female director. What a shame. Best director and best pic is ok. But how do you give the best screenplay to hurt locker while there is an awesome writing in Basterds... Quentin must be pissed...

  • @heyula07 JAMES WILL WIN MANY TIMES OSCARS

  • avatar overrated, hurt locker VERY overrated, basterds perfect

  • Tarentino should have got the Award

  • Clint Eastwood for "Invictus" should have been nominated

  • @aerandre12 i know. Im not sure what it is, but when i look at her i just want to fuckin shoot myself

  • @3Starbury i knew i wasn't the only one

  • Bigelow deserve to win. but, I love all the directors. they always came up with an extraordinary idea :) :)

  • i havent see naomi watts in the event,,,! did she came around,,??

  • shut up about that 110% bullshit. And his movie was only visionary on a technological scale. Movie wasn't a groundbreaking story nor was it brilliantly directed.

  • you bet. it was cocktail of 100s of movie

  • Aprende a escribir ignorante, no se te entiende nada.... En qué idioma escribirste?

  • James Cameron should have won down with Hurt Locker.

  • yes yuo right

  • i dont know but cameron's wife is just butt ugly and he's kicking himself for his ex's win. u saw it in his face after the best picture announcement... can a white woman be that wrinkled at her age?? Genes failed her..

  • LoL, this chick just ripped them all apart, hahahah. <3

  • I think she should have...aah...thanked Barbra Streisand for introducing her and ..aah...because..oh I dunno...Barbra kinda paving the way in female directing??? Eeeh???? Whoops! Big whoops! Especially because Barbra introduced...aah...her! :(

  • God I hope you're joking.

  • Told you Grace, told you it was Bigelow.

  • Bullock, hurt locker dirictor wins because its there first time so lets make history, the guy who play a country singer wins all because he looks the part this is BULL

  • Biggest joke of a show ive ever witnessed, we all no who best director is and best picture is ... dont need a bunch of faggots to give pity pictures awards for not breaking box office records and bringing ppl to the theatre ... seriously a disgrace off human awards unbelievable sickening

  • What are you talking about!! The Hurt Locker is a very deep movie about a very important subject! Calling people deragatory names is not very adult, making money is of course important in Hollywood but telling good stories is more important to the oscar members. P.S. If they were a "bunch of faggots" like you say why didn't Brokeback Mountain win instead of Crash? Don't be hateful be critical that's okay.

  • i think tarantino will be best screenplay but not picture... though i really want him to

  • tarantino just because i think hes a damn genious, but where the FUCK was neil blomkamp?! district nine had to be worth at least a nomination for that amazing directing right?!

  • Quentin Tarantino, hands down

maybe Kathryn Bigelow, but I haven't seen the Hurt Locker yet, so I really can't say

  • These videos are crap. The Academy wouldn't pick a winner just because they were a woman. They'll pick who they thought did the best job at directing the film.

  • yeah..you would think..

  • I think that giving Katherine Bigalow the Oscar simply for being a woman, is pitiful, if they really want to make a political statement, than they'll give the Award to someone who truly deserves it (QT), not for the sake of controversy.

  • james cameron hands down

  • lol, xwife and x husband.. wow... this would totally suck to see the other side win.. geez

  • James Cameron should win, i didn't really enjoy Avatar, but he had to direct some shitty actors....Sam Worthington fucking blows

  • yeah

  • kathryn

  • JAMES CAMERON!

  • Quentin Tarantino

  • god, that would suck loosing to your ex wife

  • Kathryn Bigelow FTW

  • Maybe Kathryn Bigelow then

  • Cameron of Taratino!!!

  • how come harry potter movies are never nominated for stuff at the oscars? by far the best movies ever!

  • @pinckypie

They are not really Oscar material. Too much on series. The acting is pretty good in each one but not great

  • Not really... they're fun to watch, but I think they've been doing worse and worse as the series goes on, lol. First to third were the best.

  • I desperately want Tarantino to win because he deserved it with Pulp Fiction but was screwed out of it, but after watching the brilliantly directed The Hurt Locker, I think Bigelow will win. Although Tarantino is still in the running. James Cameron doesn't deserve it, the movie was all technical and not relying on direction

  • Kathryn should win.

  • Best Supporting Director

  • Kathryn Bigelow or Tarantino, maybe even Reitman.

  • bigelow or tarantino, can't decide

  • Kathryn better win, cameron has already have his own, give someone else a chance.

  • james cameron

  • I hope Hurt Locker doesn't win because people will be talking about how realistic it was - which it wasn't.

  • I hope Tarantino will win this, and Cameron won't, but it will be Bigelow, or unfortunately Cameron. I liked avatar, but it wasn't thegreatestmoviofalltimwhatthefuckitwassogoodijizzedinmypantsthatshowfuckingawesomavatarwas

  • james cameron is going to win or bigelow

  • Kathryn Bigelow

  • Tarantino...

  • Tarantino.

  • tarantino win!!!

  • Bieglow is the front runner, what are you talking about Grace.

  • @btopishere She's nowhere near the lock that Bridges, Bullock, Waltz and Mo'nique are.

    - Grace

  • Bigelow won DGA, PGA, and BFCA. Nobody in history has won all three and then missed Best Director at the Academy Awards. She's a clear favorite. Just take a glance at the precursor awards she's picked up so far on wikipedia.

  • james cameron

  • Quentin Tarantino!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bigelow! Idk why she said there's no front runner, I mean...I guess so, but Kathryn really has the edge/advantage.

  • Katrym Bigeow is goint to win this one and she so deserve it.... Is unbelievable the work that she did in The hurt Locker. And Lee daniel is doind what here? Clint Eastwood should be here...

  • James Cameron SHould win :D Like avatar IS SERIUSLY GREAT!! :D

  • There they go again giving themselves awards while the worlds falling apart. Pay them minimum wage and see how many of them will still be around. We should as a society pay people for the contributions and good they do for it. Not because there good skidsophrenics and able to become someone there not on a screen. Then given an award for it ! Now thats truely crazy. Wake up people!!!!

  • Kathryn Bigelow deserve it , she is the winner

  • Bigelow will win. The directors guild gave her director of the year. They have a nearly 100% track record of predicting the Oscar winner for this category dating back to 1948.

  • Neill Blomkamp should've been nominated, but out of the nominees I think that Tarantino should win it.

  • Neill Blomkamp for District 9. That was a great movie.

  • They should not give it to Bigelow just because she is a woman, the person who wins it should deserve it.

  • 4 best director caythrn bigleow and i think that niel bloncamp was left out

  • James Cameron all the way The BAFTA's should have given the most awards to Avatar best film of all time.

  • Quentin Tarantino

  • Quentin Tarantino, hands down. Inglorious Basterds was just a phenomenal movie.

  • Kathryn Bigelow, all the way.

  • You said no woman's ever won best director - have many been nominated?

Just trying to think of female directors, off the top of my head i thought of two who have made really good films.

Firstly, Mimi Leder who's made The Peacemaker, Deep Impact and Pay it Forward.

Secondly Sarah Polley who gave us Away from her, which is the only thing, i watched that's she directed.

She also starred in the first 18's rated film, i saw in the cinema, Go.

(The Irish ratings are U, PG, 12,12RA, 15,16 and 18)

  • P.S. 12RA and 16 are new ratings.

  • It's a toss up between Bigelow and Tarintino. I predict they split the vote an Reitman gets it.

  • James Cameron should win.

  • kat big

  • James Cameron

  • I hope Tarantino wins. Inglorious Basterds was such a fantastic movie. And while I enjoyed Avatar, I don't think it should win Best Picture or Best Director. I'm going to watch The Hurt Locker tonight though, so maybe my pick for Best Director will change soon.

  • i dont think avatar should get an oscar for best film

  • Kathryn Bigelow!!!!1

  • i hope tarantino

  • Kathyrn Bigelow is going to win definitly. James Cameron has 3 Billion Dollars and the Golden Globe, and hes basically the most cockiest son of a bitch ever.

  • Definitely a difficult one to pick. I think all five directors are amazing in their own ways, so it's a tough call. I think a woman winning for Best Director is waaaay long overdue. Not only that but "The Hurt Locker" was a great film, so it's not like they're giving her the award just because they wanted to make people happy.

  • Haven't seen Hurt Locker yet so I'm gonna vote for Basterds. I thought it was going to be a terrible movie until I actually watched it. Great movie.

  • I want Bigelow to win. :)

  • I only say this because of all the nominees, I like this film the most. So I'm gonna say The Hurt Locker.

You get FIVE stars for what looks like a really cool HDTV.

  • the hurtlocker is light years ahead of avatar.

  • Lee Daniels!!!

  • you look like my computer survey teacher lol.

  • Tarantino!

  • Cameron is the most overrated director of all time

  • u r the most underrated idiot of all time

  • lawl. Nice spelling while calling me an idiot :P

Cameron is so overrated it's hilarious. Avatar and Titanic are the two highest grossing movies of all time, and the kicker is, they both sucked. Avatar had some pretty visuals and Titanic had a sad ending, beyond that both were poor films. Every film on this list is a better film than either of Cameron's "masterpieces."

  • I agree fully with you! Tarantino made a better movie, and even dared to make his own ending of WW2!

  • why dont you go and suck your fathers dick while i fuck your mom with a chainsaw.

  • lawl. Alright buddy, just giving you my honest opinion on an overrated phenomenon

  • Dude call him a bad director but who cares ? I agree with you that his directing skills arent comparable with tarantinos but dude.. he made it allright.. the two most successfull movies ever !

  • @residentevil25 ahahhahahah yes ur mum 2

  • Tarantino. It is long overdue. Avatar is a great spectacle but not a great film and the Hurt Locker is overrated.

  • @Afireinthemind how can you call Hurt Locker overrated, and praise Tarantino at the same time. He's movies are the only thing overrated.

  • neil was left out becuase he made super movie with little money

  • James Cameron shouldn't win since the movie sucked. Quentin tarantino, even though he's a great director, Inglorious Bastards' problem is that the movie doesn't need the Bastards to move the story along. If you take out the Bastards from the movie it will still make sense. The director for the Hurt Locker should win

  • JAMES CAMERON 4 SURE

  • Neil Blomkamp should win.

  • James Cameron

  • TARANTINO

  • AVATAR AVATAR AVATAR AVATAR AVATAR

James Cameron, i mean TITANIC was the biggest movie off all time and one og the best movies of all time and now AVATAR is the biggest movie of all time and did history at the box office and for the cinema, AVATAR is the new future of cinema. sorry for my english

  • @brock123Lesnar

Yeah, it was the biggest movie of all time, but not the BEST, really.

  • Anyone but James Cameron. Yeah it was an awesome movie to watch but the story and the script were below average. If you're gonna spend $300 million on a movie you should have enough money to pay for a better script.

  • Cameron should win.

  • James Cameron (if u win,dont say anything offensive like in1998) ;]

  • James Cameron (if u win, dont say anething offensive like in1998) ;]

  • katherine Bigelow :)

  • Tarantino should win best screenplay but not director

    Katherine Bigelow FTW

  • Tarantino should win for best director. I really enjoyed Avatar and The Hurt Locker, but Basterds just takes the cake! Tarantino is a genius!

  • I want Kathryn Bigelow to win but Cameron will win. Otherwise there will be a huge backlash from the media.

  • James Cameron

  • Cameron

  • james Cameron

who cares if he's an egotistical asshole

    he's an egotistical genius asshole

these aren't the personality awards afterall

    give the man his award.

  • my family just got District 9 in the mail through Netflix and I thought it was amazing. I hope there's a sequel!

  • I believe that James Cameron should win. I hope one of my future films makes it to the Oscars!

  • I thought Avatar was good, BUT it is too "overhyped ". thats my opinion. I enjoyed inglorious basterds more than avatar, but there two totally different style of movies. my vote to win would be inglorious even though avatar is going to win.

  • Neil Blomkamp was left out

  • Neil Blomkamp(directer of District 9) should of been nominated but since He isn't I say Tarantino.

  • James Cameron better win for Avatar! He's one of only 3 or 4 people in the world who could have made Avatar! The same cant be said for the Hurtlocker, which could have been made, by any number of high caliber filmmakers.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the Hurtlocker but its no way near Avatar as far as it's scope and grandeur in concerned! People seem to want to give Kathryn Bigelow an Oscar simply because she's a woman. Really!

My runner up would have to be Tarrintino for Inglorious Basterds!

  • biglow

  • tarantino, hands down. He's a great director, even thoughhe probably wont win. next to that, bigelow, cos the hurt locker was really good

  • Kathryn Bigelow! that movie was great. it will be disappointing if the academy goes for ratings.

  • james cameron or quinten

  • zack snyder

  • Kathryn Bigelow should win because shut up...

(yes that was supposed to make no sense...)

  • i say james cameron should win, but they should of had zack snyder on that list for watchmen

  • Cameron should sweep all technological aspects of the oscars, he has done something huge in the movie world with this technology he helped create.

I honestly cant see anyone beating him in this director category.

tarentino wont win because his movies are cult like, and the academy don't do that.

  • It's the battle of the exes since it is the male big budget no plotter against the low budget female war epic.

  • James Cameron did an excellent job

  • James Cameron by far

  • i hope either kathryn bigelow or tarantino wins for best director. if cameron wins it'll be a sad day for me, because although i think he's an amazing technical genius director and storyteller, the story of avatar after all the effects and spectacle, isnt that strong on its own.

  • I'd love to see Kathryn Bigelow win, but James Cameron deserved this one.

  • this ones difficult its between QT and JC. im goin for cameron :)

  • Neil Blomkamp got screwed like no other but I think Cameron will in this one

  • Out of those films I only saw Inglorious Basterds and Avatar, but out of those I think Tarantino should win, Inglorious was one of my favorites of the year.

  • I don't think that James Cameron should win. I mean Avatar has some amazing effects but the story isn't really that spectacular...

When it comes to the other directors I really don't know. Inglorious Bastards and Avatar are the only movies from this category that premiered in Portugal

  • I have to say im rooting for james cameron, Avatar is a freaking brilliant film, My all time favourate!

  • Where's Neill Blomkamp??

  • I love Jason Reitman's work, but I wouldn't mind if he doesn't win. All the people nominated certainly deserve it.

  • As much as I want Tarantino to win because Inglourious Basterds is amazing, I really think that they'll just give it to james cameron for the WORST movie i've ever had to spend my time on

  • At 2:50 the panel says Best Supporting Director. I can't say who I think should win since I didn't see 2 of those movies. But from what I saw, Tarantino.

  • Bigelow, Tarantino or Reitman...

  • Jason Reitman! which says a lot seeing that i love Quentin Tarantino work, but up in the air just might be inglorious bastards as my number one of the year

  • Your mom should win syke Tarantino all the way!

  • Neill Blomkamp should of been nominated for directing District 9,

  • Cameron is awesome...but Avatar is just overrated, Tarantino lives movies, nobody is more passionate, he deserves it

  • btw bigelow or tarantino should win

  • i think jason reitman deserves the oscar. i absolutely loved up in the air!

  • tarantino makes me puke, his movies are horrible, unwatchable pieces of crap.

i swear i haven't seen one i liked, he just makes over the top, nonsensical stuff.

the ending of death proof was the worst i've seen in any movie, ever.

inglorious basterds was horrible, the german and british characters were cliches, the hitler guy looked like a cartoon; i saw it with an open mind regarding tarantino's previous work but alas it didn't fail to disappoint

  • i hope james cameron loses and someones goes " looks like aint king of the world bitch!"

  • Comment removed

  • It'll be the war of the roses between James Cameron or Kathryn Bigelow for Best Director. I have my sights for Ms. Bigelow whose move made more empty seats than her ex Mr. Cameron's mega-mega hit who's movie made more money at the B.O. Good luck.

  • Tarantino was royally screwed by Forrest

    Gump

  • Big fan of Tarantino, but James Cameron is the only director who can say that he has made the two most successful movies ever made.

  • I have to say Tarantino, only because I'm a huge fan as well...and he's an amazing director. Otherwise, I want Kathryn Bigelow. I would love for a woman to win this category.

  • third !!

  • Tarantino should win

  • Hoping
